All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!. I prefer places that are open and airy, with huge windows and too many skylights. Balconies and bay windows with seats and other elegant/elaborate touches are a must. At the same time, I don't feel comfortable in places that feel like the furniture is wrapped in plastic after the guests leave--so casual and informal accoutrements are a big plus, like big squashy couches and shag carpet of an alarming color. I also absolutely love the area I currently live in, so my ideal home is on a hill with a beautiful view of the ocean, surrounded in pine trees and rugged mountains.

2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
1. Zombies. For one thing, they used to be my friends when they were alive, and now they want to eat me. For another, they're slow, creeping, and for some reason impossible to escape no matter how far and fast you run. >:/
2. Nuclear war. Most of my nightmares are just regular dreams until suddenly MUSHROOM CLOUD ON THE HORIZON, YOU'RE SCREWED NOW! Sort of the same slow, creeping, impossible to escape death.
3. Being emotionally disconnected from my family. A good amount of them are either rude and crude, or unforgiving and cold, but I still need their approval. If they all disowned me I'd probably have a break down.

3. What is your favorite aspect of your physical appearance and why?
If you'll forgive me saying so, I have enormous boobs. I know it sounds crass, but seriously. What else do I need?

4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would you change and why?
My teeth are really crooked. :/ It doesn't keep me from smiling (actually I laugh at just about everything) but I still feel self-conscious about them.

5. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
1. A million dollars. I know, classic answer, right? The first million is the hardest anyway, I'd invest it all and start my own business a few years later, most likely as an artist. Or I'd just live off the interest and write for a living.
2. The ability to change gender at will! Not only an awesome party trick, but then I can pick up ladies and gentlemen. These wishes are just getting better and better.
3. To have a long and happy life with my significant other of choice.
--What, no world peace? Here's the thing--it's not going to last, not even for a year. Why waste your wish? I'd rather use my invested million dollars and donate to charity or public education or starving third world countries and generally make the world a better place with my own two hands than trust in something nebulous like "world peace."

6. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;) Living on my own, across the country from my family, never asking for any monetary assistance. It's not as hard as it sounds, but it really makes you feel free. I also had a brief stint with the US Army--I'm more proud of how I was able to overcome my fear and stick to my guns and enlist rather than being proud of the actual enlistment (which only lasted six months anyway).

7. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you?
Ah, a difficult question. Knowledge and pleasure are the most important to me, I tend to seek them out the most. All others are really a close second, but I supposed adventure would be the least important, I'm not very spontaneous.

8. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values?
"Fate doesn't hang on a wrong or right choice
Fortune depends on the tone of your voice."
Ben Folds

9. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Financial security is incredibly important to me. It was something of a luxury growing up, one I didn't have often. I know it's considered shallow to hold wealth in such a high regard, but being able to afford what I want or need, as soon as I want or need it, is a wonderful feeling for me. On the flip side, I have only recently begun to learn how to manage money, and even now it's "check bank account once a week to make sure you have enough for World of Warcraft and going out to dinner three times before Friday."

10. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office? Drawing and writing are huge hobbies for me, which I hope to someday turn into a career. I love to tell stories, especially ones that make people laugh or think about something they don't normally think about. I recently started reading for fun again, after a friend harangued me into reading "Game of Thrones." Also I *cough* have a level 80 blood elf mage in World of Warcraft.

11. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical).
Positive:
1. I'm friendly, as much as I hate to admit it sometimes. I love entertaining people and making them feel at ease. I like meeting new people and adding their contact info to my massive mental rolodex. I never thought I'd be a networker.
2. I'm told I'm pretty sharp. I probably get most of my wit from my mom. Having a good quip, comeback, or trash talk ready at all times is essential.
3. I'm stubborn. Yes, I consider this positive. People who can't stick to their beliefs and hold their own in a mental contest are weak-willed. I'm proud of my ability to stand up for myself and what I believe in.
Negative:
1. I'm judgmental. Another trait from my mom. I like being right, so I'm pessimistic about people, because then I'm either right or pleasantly surprised.
2. It's very hard for me to forgive and forget. If you've wronged me once, I'll remember it forever, and think of some way to get you back for it, otherwise you've gotten away with treating me poorly and will no doubt make a habit of it.
3. I have anxiety issues. I tend to obsessively overanalyze things to the point of having mild breakdowns over them, especially social situations.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Which is your favorite book of the series so far? What about your least favorite?
"A Game of Thrones" is my favorite, if only because it set the tone for the series so well. And we always remember our first, right? In truth, it's hard to pick a favorite. Martin's storytelling is beyond anything I could ever hope to achieve. When I read, I tend to try to dissect an author's technique, find out why they used this device, why they wrote the character this way, etc. I can't do that with ASOIAF -- I get too into what's going on. :P

2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series?
1. Davos Seaworth. I love that he got as far as he did just by being honest to a total hardass who couldn't find it in him to fault the guy for being honest. DAVOS ILU.
2. Arya Stark. I am a total sucker for strong heroines, what can I say, and she's a little spitfire.
3. Melisandre. I don't know if I can even explain this one. She's just.. she seems to honestly believe she's doing the right thing, even though she so very clearly isn't. She's powerful and mysterious and I probably have a girlcrush on her. I wouldn't like her character if we met at the nightfires, but as a reader I love what her character does to the plot so very, very much. <3

3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series?
Ugh, this is another hard one.
1. Stannis. DADDY DIDN'T LOVE ME, EVERYONE LIKES MY BROTHERS MORE THAN ME, WHIINNNNNE.
2. Theon. Actually, he was very well written, but I hated that kid with a passion. I think I liked reading about Joff more than reading Theon chapters. Cersei was fun to watch decline because she had it coming. Theon was just.. an idiot.
3. Robert Arryn. Oh dear lord will that kid just drop dead already. He's creepy, he's bratty, he's screechy, he's got too much of his mother...

4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far?
Viserys's "crowning," Joff's wedding night, and Tywin's last privy break are all tied for first. Basically, when bad men die, I cheer.

5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end?
In the next three years. I don't even presume to guess how it could end at this point, too much is left unknown right now. I can only hope that Dany eventually makes it to Westeros and we eventually see an army of Others and we eventually see Littlefinger's/Varys's Master Plans come to fruition....? That's as much as I got!

Davos is also my very favorite character. Rock on! (Unfortunately, your other two faves are two that I hate...but Davos can balance that out. He can do anything.)

This is an interesting situation for me - being the first to vote on an application. I can't keep myself from reading the votes of those who came before me, and I always take into consideration the analyses of others before making my final decision. So this is novel. Let's see.

I rule out Greyjoy (despite your Asha love) because of your friendliness, the fact that you ranked adventure lowest on the list of priorities (you'd have to enjoy adventure to live in a place like the Iron Islands), and also because I simply don't get the Greyjoy feel from you. (I take an applicant's tone and style into account as much as what is actually said; sometimes more.)

You are definitely one of the more fiery houses - either a Lannister, a Martell, or a Targaryen. And I'll also throw Tyrell in there. Let's knock out Targaryen straight off; you don't strike me as being so given to extremes as the Targaryens generally are. You seem more stoic to me. It's more difficult to choose between the last three...I see Lannister (pride and self-reliance), Martell (being judgmental and tending toward grudge-holding), and Tyrell (cleverness and your chosen quote) in your application. In the end, I think I'll vote Martell for you...less because of evidencial reasons and more because of your general vibe.

Whew!

I'm having trouble placing you. Ultimately I think I'm going to go Tyrell. I think it was the gender-switching wish. Hee.

Actually, that wish strikes me as more Martell...bisexual Oberyn being one of their poster-children, and all. :)

Maybe but she strikes me as more Doran-ish than Oberyn. Except she doesn't... quite fit that either.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I went Martell as well. And "never forgive, never forget" is one thing that Doran and Oberyn have in common.

unfortunetly you're far too nice for greyjoy, therefore I see you in Martell

Lannister

From: [identity profile] northswainglow.livejournal.com
You get points from me for listing Mel as one of your favourites. I like her a lot for the reasons you gave and I never seen anyone have anything but contempt for her. So yes.

Anyways, I almost want to sort you Tyrell just based on your icon, which is the Tyrellist thing I've seen lately. Plus I just see a lot of the roses in you. I'm also tempted to put you with us in Lannister, for a lot of reasons. But I think that if I'm being totally honest, you're a Martell more than anything else for the reasons everyone else have given.

I'm having trouble deciding between Martell and Greyjoy. Greyjoy because you seem like Asha with her sharp wit and willingness to be a little crass. Martell for overall energy and loudness (CAPSLOCK), and having trouble forgiving and forgetting. :P

I think I'll go with Martell.

Sorry, forgot to put my house!

There's some Martell, but the fact that you mention having such anxiety issues over social things makes me think Lannister would be a better fit. The other qualities you listed for yourself could fit with the lions very well, too, particularly the wit and the pessimism. ;)

Your fears strike me as remarkably Stark (zombies! nuclear war! it's all very Winter is Coming), and there are things that suggest Tully as well, but overall I have to go with Martell for the reasons already listed.

Awww, I saw all set to Lannister you, but then you had to go Martell everything. :(

'kay so actually a lot of that could probably go either way or into Tyrell, but I dunno. You're pretty into the justice thing (save for your wishing a child character would drop dead, which given their track record in canon is really more the Lannisters' forte. :P), and while you're sociable enough you're more "solo" than Lannisters and Tyrells tend to be. I dunno. Plus save for the pine trees, your ideal home is pretty Martell-ish? er.

And don't worry, re: capslock, I'm pretty sure my app outdid you in that by a country mile. :P

You have a fair amount of Stark, with never forgetting a grudge, stubbornness and all that, but you're also pretty fiery and have some bi-stuff going on, so I'm going to say Martell>

1) OK so you have a Pride and Prejudice icon
2) You're sharp
3) You consider being stubborn a positive trait.
4)"Stannis. DADDY DIDN'T LOVE ME, EVERYONE LIKES MY BROTHERS MORE THAN ME, WHIINNNNNE."

Well these four things have made me come to a conclusion... MARRY ME!!!!

Ok so generally I get very much of a Lannister feel on you. Seeking pleasure and knowlage reminded me of Tyrion, your worst trait is quite Cersei, and so on. Although I see quite some Tyrell and Martell too, like your intrest in drawing as well as your never forget and forgive thing.

(I hope you understood I was only joking about the marrige thing, big boobs kind of frighten me and stuff, however if you ever discover how to change sex at will, feel free to call ;P)

Lannister swipe attempt. Mr. woshisname might be more of a Tyrell perhaps, but he was my fave in P&P, anyway. And we are. We have enormous boobs and might come with quotes like yours? Financial security for the really important reasons likewise. Being friendly enough despite hating to admit it will do, and we do go for the best, even in WoW style things? Martell. At first I resisted 'cause I thought your general vibe was a bit more quixotic than Dorne but a lot of stuff you have "on paper" just fits, even though some things don't (like I would associate the anxiety with some other house, and I dunno, I just feel something's a bit more ... not whimsical ... but kinda like whimsical ... quixotic, that's the word I used before, I'll stick to that, more quixotic than Martells). But overall it's just the easiest house to fit to your answers.

I think you're a Lannister. Strong-willed, ready with a comeback, judgmental, enjoys company (when you don't let yourself get completely stressed out by it), plus that tendency to hold grudges reminds me of the long memory of Casterly Rock. Your pride in achieving independence is countered by your fear of being distanced from your family. Lannisters may have awkward and angry reunion dinners, but there's definitely desire for approval at the heart of their (really tangled) emotional connections, the kind of connections that lead to breakdowns if disowned/set adrift from the family.
