How did you find out about the community? If it's through an LJ user, please tell us who it is: Honestly, I'm not sure. I think I must have seen it on someone's profile, but I don't know who.
Age: 24
Location: Huntsville, AL
Occupation: Salesperson at a clothing store
All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!. My ideal home would probably be here in Huntsville. Mountains in the distance, but not close enough to have to drive on mountain roads. Doesn't get too cold, but doesn't get too hot either. As far as the house itself, it would be one story, not too fancy. As little yard as I can get away with. I would only want 2 or 3 bedrooms and bathrooms. The bathrooms would have whirlpool tubs, though. Also, a library is a must, even if its just a spare bedroom filled with bookshelves.
2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain. Spiders. I think that is self-explanatory. *shudder*
Losing everyone I care about. That is, I'm not really afraid of being alone, but more afraid of the pain of being without my loved ones. My friends and family are everything to me, and I don't know what I'd do without them.
Lastly, I'm terrified of being lost. I hate going new places, because I'm scared I'll get lost. There is nothing more terrifying than being somewhere new and not knowing where you are and where to go.
3. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted! I think my first wish would be that all my debts are payed off. One of the big worries in my life is that I won't be able to pay my debts. I wouldn't ask for more than that, though, because I don't really like money. I mean, its useful, but there aren't that many things I really want.
The second thing I'd wish for is a teleporter. Instant matter transport would make life so much easier. I live about six hours away from everyone I love except my boyfriend, so I don't get to see them much. With a teleporter, I'd be able to see them whenever I wanted.
Last wish? I really don't know. Maybe being finished with school so that I could finally get down to the business of living. Don't get me wrong. I love school. I just feel like I'm in limbo while I'm earning my degree and I hate that feeling.
4. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;) I'm very proud of myself for getting up the courage to leave my ex-husband. He wasn't abusive or anything, just neglectful of myself and his child. The hard part was that I had to move back in with my parents when I left him. Also, I'm codependent, so forcing myself to break it off with him was unbelievable hard.
5. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice. Wow, this is a hard one. I'd have to say a tie between love, knowledge and pleasure for most important. I have a constant thirst for knowledge. I love to learn new things and I read constantly.
Love is so important to me, as well. I can't imagine living without love. Not just romantic love, of course. The love I feel for my family and friends as well.
I'm a bit of a hedonist, so pleasure is very important. I think that if it feels good and everyone involved is consenting, there's nothing wrong with it. That goes for sex, food, drugs, whatever.
As far as the least important? Adventure. I don't care about that at all. I'm a homebody. All my adventures come from books. I don't like the feeling of adrenaline.
6. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the soothing thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering - William Wordsworth
This passage is all about life. Bad things happen, but you can't live in the past and wish that everything could be as it was. You have to accept that things change and move on. You might just find that what you have now is just as good as what you once had.
7. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can. I'm not very good with money. Right now, all my money is going towards bills, so I don't even bother taking my debit card out with me. Its the only way I can keep myself from spending it all on trivial things.
Financial security is important to me, but only because our world revolves around money. If you don't have it, you will be miserable. I don't want to be rich or anything, but I definitely want to be comfortable. (Truthfully, I'd rather be with someone who makes decent money so its not essential for me to have a well paying job. I want to be a librarian, so I'm not going to make a whole lot anyway.)
8. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office? Well, I read a lot. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance, the classics, really just about anything. Plot is less important than well, developed characters, but a good plotty novel will draw me in just as much sometimes.
I play video games a good bit, too. World of Warcraft is the main one right now, but I love most RPGs. I also play Rock Band.
Occasionally, I'll paint or sketch, or I'll write a poem or short story, but I really have to be inspired to do either. I'll go months without picking up my sketch pad or writing anything.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question. My three best? Intelligence, loyalty, compassion. I pride myself on my intelligence. I'm not saying I'm the smartest person ever, but I'm definitely smarter than a lot of people. (wow, that sounds arrogant) I'm very loyal to the people I love. There's not much they can do to get rid of me. I hate to see people suffer. I try to make people feel better when they're sick or upset.
My three worst would be my codependency, impatience, and my intense need to avoid confrontation.
I know that I am codependent. I try to get better about it, but I do tend to latch on to someone and not let go. If that person gets upset with me about something, I get really depressed and spend all my time trying to make it up to them, even if they are the one in the wrong.
I am extremely impatient. My sense of time is kind of skewed, so it sometimes feels like things take forever, even if they really aren't taking that long. When I get impatient, I get irritable. That's not a very good combination.
Lastly, my need to avoid confrontation. Its kind of silly, really. I will just keep quiet about someone who has offended me or hurt my feelings until I explode, usually all over someone who isn't involved. This is especially bad with my coworkers.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why? I love Arya, because she's so spunky and strong. Most little girls would crumble under what she's gone through, but she just keeps going.
I like Tyrion a lot. He's such an interesting character. He's a total ass, but he is probably the best of the Lannisters. Under his rough exterior, he has a conscience and real morals, even if they aren't the morals that the rest of the world shares.
I'm fascinated by Jojen. I want to know more about him, because what little we have been shown is just so interesting. He's a prophet and a teacher, but he's so young.
2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why? Can't stand Joffrey. I know we're not supposed to like him, but I loathe him. He's a spoiled and cruel little prick.
Stannis annoys me on a whole other level. He's so hidebound. It drives me crazy that he doesn't seem to realize that change is unavoidable and that being flexible is the only way to survive.
I'm not terribly fond of Varys, either. He has too many secrets. I feel like he would sell his own mother if he thought that he could profit from it.
3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why? I love the birth of the dragons. It is such a powerful moment. Birth out of death is a classic theme in literature and it was handled so beautifully here. Out of her husband's and child's deaths comes her true children, the dragons. I love that she comes out cleansed of everything, even her hair. Its like the person that she was died in the fire and a new, stronger person was born.
4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why? I'm not really sure how I want the series to end. So many things could happen in the next couple of books. I know I want the Lannisters to fall. I want Cersei to die a horrible bloody death. I wouldn't mind if Jaime survived, though. I don't want Dany to take the throne. I think that growing up in another area of the world has given her a false idea of what ruling the Seven Kingdoms would be like. I wish that Ned would come back from the dead and bring order back to the land. Other than those things, I would have to know how the series actually ends to know how I would like for it to end instead.
