All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
My ideal home is some place that I create and mold to fit my own person. I am a child of divorce and as such, even though I have two “homes”, I have never felt very much at home at either of them. After having been spread too thin between homes, I much prefer a space that is wholly of my own creation to share with a person of my choosing so that I can build a life with them in whatever way that particular relationship allows. Love, trust, and safety are the most important things in a home, whether it is romantic or platonic in nature. As for the superficial things regarding dwellings, I like lovely architecture and place with character. I prefer colder weather although I can be flexible and live in mild temperatures as well, as I have thus far in my life. I do not do well in hot locations unless I am there for a very short period of time (i.e. a vacation to the beach). I would love to travel, but I would always have to have a place to call my own and could never live as a wanderer between places for long. I have done this metaphysically for too long and I really would like to never have to repeat the experience.
2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
1. Heights. I am terrified of them. I try and avoid them at all costs. I hate bridges, elevators, stairs, and anything higher than three stories. I cannot fully explain why I am afraid of them but the knowledge that it is a truly irrational fear hasn’t helped to stomp it out yet.
2. Being Controlled. I have lived a good portion of my life in the clutches of someone more powerful than myself and have only recently been able to break free. I fully understand the binding and seemingly unbreakable nature that fear can place on the soul. However, I also know that the only way to combat such things is to find a way to break free and become your own person. I know that your experiences with always be with you but you do not have to let them rule your life. You are the master of your own person and the only way that anyone else can rule you is if you give them that power or are too weak to be able to grasp it for yourself.
3. Being unable to prevent harm to your loved-ones. I know, it is the ever-popular fear but it is one that I especially hold dear. I have had to help try and revive someone who is dying, and it is not heroic in any sense of the word. It is the most helpless feeling in the world and one that you cannot fight against no matter how hard you try. I suppose that the real fear behind this is helplessness, but it isn’t localized. I, as many of you would agree, would rather suffer twice the pain of my loved ones as opposed to seeing them hurt. Knowing that you can’t do this is a terrible, paralyzing fear that I think many grapple with and have to live with.
3. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
1. The health and security of my family and friends. I would want them all to be as health as possible and be able to adequately see to their needs and a good bit of their wants. I believe that this one is self-explanatory
2. Finacial Stability. I want the money to be able to do what I want, when I want too. I want to be able to work, without having to work and being able to travel and experience as much as I can at my leisure.
3. Telekinesis. With this power, I could flay and move stuff, the best of both worlds. No more fear of heights, problem solved.
4. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
I have survived the odds of my circumstances and while I know that they weren’t as bad as they could have been, they were not the best. I have lived through very emotionally trying times and I have come out on top, for the most part. For this, I am grateful for the help I’ve received and proud of the triumphant power of my spirit and determination.
5. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
Most important: Love. I believe all the rest stem from love in its differing forms. Family, friendship, knowledge, adventure, pleasure all come from your ability to love others as they are and for what they are and to be received the same in turn. The second is knowledge because even though it is linked to love ( in my view) it is also very empirical in value in and of itself.
Least important: Money. As a disclaimer, I like money more than the next person. It is what you need to get anywhere in life as you can’t be a happy camper without having any food. That said, I believe it to be the least important among the qualities listed mainly because it is the most physical of the terms listed while all the others were more metaphysical in nature. Money is essential to life in the physical realm where as the rest are much more crucial to the soul. In other words, no one ever died spiritually of a broken coin-purse.
6. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
“Those who dream by day are cognizant of that which escapes those who dream by night,” –Edgar Allen Poe.
7. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
I am relatively ok at managing money. I have impulse control issues but for the most part I am decent at keeping it together. Financial security, as previously stated, is something that I deem to be very important to where I want to go with my life. None of my goals (like graduating from college) can be achieved without money. It isn’t the most important thing by far, but it is an important aspect of being able to go where I want to in life.
8. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
I enjoy reading, drawing, painting, sculpting, watching TV (NCIS!!!), exercising, and being with my friends. I like the outdoors in small quantities and I love adventuring in new places. Being silly and hiving a good time with my friends is probably my favorite pastime and I love to make others laugh.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best:
Diplomatic: I am a very middle-of-the- road person. I like to be objective and hear both sides of an issue before making a choice. I believe that everyone has the right to be heard and to state their opinions. This quality tends to serve me well in friendship and I am often the “keeper of the peace” in my circle of friends. I like to pick and choose my battles and I strive to treat everyone as fairly as I can.
Unerring loyalty: I am loyal to the point of being “to loyal” if there is such a thing. Once you have me, you’ve got me forever. There is very little one of my friends could do to truly break this bond. Even though I know that being so unbending can be detrimental to my own self (and it has been on occasion), it’s what I signed on for.
Analytical: This is a good and bad quality. I am highly analytical in the sense that I see obstacles as problems that need solving. My most common phrase when a problem arises is “what can we do to fix it?” This serves to help me detach from problems and bring an air of objectivism by not placing a great deal of emotional value into a problem; I believe this helps to solve things efficiently and directly.
Worst:
Analytical: As a bad quality, I tend to over-analyze situations. Things can pass you by while you are trying to predict the outcomes of your actions and those of others. I often miss things in conversation due to the fact that I am tuned into my surroundings and processing the minute details of the circumstance. A great deal of worry ensues from this and can make my actions stagnant and cumbersome.
In-your-face personality: My personality is a very difficult one to comprehend. I am often very random and I operate in a space all my own. Those who know me have gotten used to this and can work around it but others seem to have a hard time breaking through the shell of “crazy”. My sense of humor is not well received by strangers and can be very offensive if you don’t know where I am coming from. On top of this, I often have a “devil may care” attitude about this fact and will encourage others’ negative opinions by acting even more strangely. I am very blunt and often don’t take others’ sensibilities to mind when I do or say things to them.
Self Indulgent: I have a hard time telling myself “no.” I am renowned within my circle as the person who will give themselves everything as long as I can afford it, and sometimes when I can’t. I mentioned having impulse issues earlier and this ties in here. If I want ice cream or new fill-in-the-blank then I am going to damn well have it.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
The Hound: I initially didn’t like him but as the books went on, I really came to enjoy his perspective. I was so angry when I learned that Gregor was the cause of his disfigurement I came to like him by default. His blatant honesty struck a chord in me. I would be lying if I said that his ambiguity and relationship with Sansa wasn’t a plus. I really enjoy that aspect of his character and I wish he has his own chapters, or at least more chapters with Sansa.
Tyrion: I love Tyrion’s constant self-deprecating sense of humor. I find him so hilarious that I have to be careful where I read his chapters because I will burst out laughing in public and earn myself really strange stares. His cunning and slightly ruthless knowledge reminds me of certain aspects of myself. I find him to be a refreshing and witty character that doesn’t let his circumstances get in the way of his wants.
Dany: I find the Targaryens to be more interesting than the rest of the houses simply because there aren’t any more left of them except Dany. All we know about them comes from those who survived them and a girl who lived most of her life without the touch of her line’s history and color firsthand. Dany’s chapters are always exciting to read because they flavor the stories with an exotic contrast to those in Westeros. I like her being a strong female character that falls in the happy medium between Caitlin (whiny, beautiful, and woefully disillusioned) and Brienne (unfeminine and stubborn).
2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
Gregor: he is unrelentingly cruel, mean, and despicable. He is my least favorite of all the characters simply because he has no redeeming qualities AT ALL. He is a total jerk. Enough said.
Joffery: He is a spoiled brat who really, really needed to die quicker. He could have grown to be a decent person if Cersei wasn’t around but as that just wasn’t GRRM’s intent, so be it. He was petty and selfish and reminded me many people I have known in life that just need a quick slap upside the face.
Littlefinger: He is a sleazy and creepy dude. He is much too clever for his or anyone else’s good. Someone who uses and abuses people without a second thought is never welcome in my mind and he has lasted too long in my opinion.
3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
At the end of a Clash of Kings, when Sansa catches the Hound in her bedchamber…does this need explanation? DO=o you really want my fangirly input?
4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
Dany ruling Westeros, Tyrion off happy somewhere, and Sansa and the Hound ruling a rebuilt Winterfell but let’s not dwell on this because GRRM might kill off a Stark and there aren’t many left.
Stark
Date: 2009-11-02 01:31 pm (UTC)Anyway, i have seen enough here to vote you as a Lannister. You rated money as the least important thing and yet, like Tyrion, you are eager to be financially stable so that you can do what you want and when and are quite good at managing your cash. Also like Tyrion you are analytical, self indulgent, a good diplomat, loyal, have come through difficult circumstances and have an extrovert personality.

I am teetering between Martel and Stark. I don't think I have found such a good mix of them before. I think ultimately you would fit the best in Stark so that is where I will put you :)
