All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.

My ideal home is a small farm close to a reasonably-sized city. It would be made of natural materials (straw bale, stone, earth plaster) with enough room for all my hobbies (sewing, spinning, pretty much any domestic art) and would have extra bedrooms for guests. Wherever it is needs 4 distinct seasons, and there must be plenty of trees and clean water.

Inside, the walls would be decorated with murals, textiles, and bookshelves. There would be a giant library with built in shelves, and the slidy ladder to get at everything. There would be window seats with cushions, and the entire atmosphere would be of a well-loved home.

2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.

a. My husband dying before me. I love him so much, and I don't want to be left alone.
[Elaboration]
I'm actually quite happy being alone, usually. I need my alone time. What I fear is the loss of him. I had a nightmare a few months ago that he'd gone skiing and broken his neck. I got the call, and the world seemed to stop. I wanted to hit the reset button. I wanted to quit and reload the game. It seemed impossible to me that there was no way to reset life.

In the next part of the dream, I was locking the house (something he usually does) and preparing to spend my first night there alone. At that point I woke up. I was scared to reach next to me, because I so badly wanted that to be a dream, and what if it wasn't? But I did, and he was there, and I sobbed and sobbed, because what if it hadn't been only a dream?

We've been together for fifteen years. I can't imagine doing without him. If I were in Westeros, I'd be begging him not to pick a side, and to stay home and not go to war.

b. Being tortured. Pain is scary.

c. Bugs. Crawly bugs. Flying bugs. Spiders are fine, but other bugs are horrible.

3. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!

a. Money, of course. Enough money that I could live well (by my own standards) without ever having to work again, and enough so I could donate a lot to charity.

b. That no woman in the world would ever be subjected to nonconsensual sex.

c. That every child born would be wanted and cared for.

4. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)

Hah! Um, let's see. Probably finishing my degree at a very competitive law school. I hated it, and I am completely unsuited to practicing law, but I stuck it out and graduated.

5. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you?

Most important- Love
Least important- Adventure
[Elaboration]
Love: It was a struggle between love and family. In my mind, the two are inextricably linked. There are people who are not in my bio family that I love so much, they basically become family. But operating on a strict definition of family, I chose love, because while I can be happy with love and no bio family, I can't be happy with a bio family and no love.

Adventure: Adventure is just a nice way to say "holy shit I almost got myself killed." I don't want to live a dull life, but there are many ways to live happily without seeking out danger. If it comes, I pull myself together and deal with it, but when it's over, I go back to my life, relieved.

6. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values?

"The quilt is the perfect existential object. It soothes the pain of existence by beautifying your surroundings, and you can also wrap up in it against the coldness of the universe."

I am focused on taking care of and comforting people, as symbolized by the quilt. My care frequently takes the form of beautiful objects and comfortable surroundings. Also, I quilt. :)

7. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you?

a. Very badly. Better than I used to, but I tend to spend more than I realize, and more than is likely good for me.

b. Very important. When I don't have enough money that I can spend it (reasonably) freely, I get very agitated.

8. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?

Well, quilting. Sewing beautiful clothes, especially for women who are typically underserved by the fashion industry. Fat girls want to look nice too, y'all!

Baking and cooking. But especially baking. I became obsessed with making sourdough bread a few years back, and when I switched back to yeast bread, I was amazed at how much easier it was.

Reading. I usually have three or four books going at any one time. Right now I have... *looks over house* three. I think. That's all I can find right now, anyway. No wait, five. I found two more.

Consuming geek entertainment. I am not a science or computer geek, but I love me the comic book and science fiction movies.

9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical).

Best:
a: Empathy. I feel and understand other people's feelings. That is what makes me a sucky lawyer.
b: Creativity. I can make almost anything.
c: Ability to act quickly in crisis. No matter what it is, I can come up with a plan of action in seconds and carry it out. I fall apart later.

Worst:
a: Laziness- I don't like to work at normal boring stuff
b: Selfishness- I like my comforts
c: Acting before thinking it through- the flip side of C. above. I act quickly, but that's not always the right thing to do.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series?

Dany: She has grown so much through the series. She's taken on massive challenges without flinching, and has come through them all.

Sansa: Unlike Arya, who has always been strong, Sansa was soft and protected. She's had to go through so much to survive when she really wasn't prepared for it. I think that's an even greater accomplishment than Arya's arc.

Tyrion: Oh come on, Tyrion's EVERYONE's favorite. Who couldn't love him? He's clever, he's self-deprecating, and he has a conscience (never touched Sansa. Good for him.)

2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series?

Cersei: Selfish power-hungry bitch.

Joffrey: Evil spoiled sadistic brat.

Theon: He betrayed his foster family and thinks far too highly of himself.

3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far?

When Dany takes the Unsullied and sets them free. Not only is it a good thing to do ethically, it's good practically, as it cements their loyalty to her.

4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end?

I want the remaining Stark children (including Jon Snow) to reunite, along with the remaining dire wolves. I'd like to see Tyrion become King. :) Mostly, I want the wars to end and for the country to settle down into peace.

Hmm. I'm not sure. Any chance you could elaborate on some of your answers? My husband dying before me. I love him so much, and I don't want to be left alone. That bit made me think of Cat mourning Ned when the silent sisters brought his body. Cat's really the only loving and domestic wife we see (lol Cersei) so I'm leaning toward putting you in Tully but I hope it's not just because I'm not getting a deeper picture of you? If that makes sense?

I thought at first to put you in Tyrell, but upon re-reading your application, I think Tully is a better fit for you. You put a lot of emphasis on family and caring for them, domestic life, and love, traits I find more fishy than rosey.

You're a Tully all over - come join us in Riverrun! Your love of beauty and domestic things made me think of Tyrell, but you lack entirely the Tyrell ambition and tendency to duplicity. You remind me of Catelyn, in a good way. :)

Tyrell

I would have liked to see some more elaboration in your answers, but I agree with the others before me that this application definitely has a Tully vibe.

Perhaps an elaboration on number 5?

Hmmmm okay, I'm glad I'm not alone in seeing Tyrell here. But, no, you're ultimately very Tully. :D

Urgh not sure why I bolded both. Tully is my vote.

Your answers could do with some elaboration but i really don't think it would sway the strong Tully vibe anyway...

The quilt quote in particular makes me think you're a very Tyrell-ish sort of Tully.

I can definitely see why people are saying Tully, but ultimately I had to say Martell. The fact that one of your wishes had to do with women's sexual rights, your love of reading and your enjoyment of comforts all made see you in Dorne. Hey, Martells can be devoted partners/nurturers too!

Tyrell, not Tully. Love of family and loyalty, yes, but also a fondness for the pleasures of life. I can't see the average Martell putting Adventure at the very bottom of their list.

I see a lot of Tyrell, with some Tully (love for family) and Stark (idealism).

Oh SO Tully! You seem like a person that gives of themselves. None of your wishes are selfish at all. Even your wish for money so that you could give some to charity. Your home "trees and water" is, "Oh hi Riverrun". Also, how it was difficult for you to differentiate between Love and Family. Tully's aren't the only house to have a strong family pull, but everything else in your application seems to fall in the same lines of a Trout. Come join us in Riverrun :)

I love your name, Cereselle. Very pretty. *_*

At first I was thinking Tyrell, and then the altruistic nature of your second two wishes made me think Targaryen, but then there is a sweetness about you that is so like Sansa that I'm inclined to say Stark. I actually didn't see the Tully very much while reading your application, though [livejournal.com profile] loveweasleys04's points -almost- swayed me to that. But I think the idealistic romanticism of the Starks is a better fit, even if I seem to be alone in thinking that way. Your quilt quote is one of the most Sansa things I've ever read! :)

Tyrell

[identity profile] spamdilemma.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
It's Tully for me as well. Given your ideal home, devotion to family and the people you love, and distaste for adventure, I think that spells out Tully fairly well. Also the ability to act quickly (with rather unfortunate results) reminds of Catelyn and the whole 'Heyyy, let's abduct Tyrion' scenario. Hoo, boy! :)

Targaryen

[identity profile] guad.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm getting an overwhelming Tyrell vibe, of the kinder Willas or Margaery sort. Your hobbies show something of loving beauty and pleasant things (eating is very pleasant, right? :P) and the definite confirmation is in the "ability to quickly act in a crisis"...soemthing the former Steward Tyrell certainly did, when the King died on the fields of fire and he managed to grab the title ;)
