All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!. I like old, but well-kept houses, with a lot of windows. A decent amount of land, but not too big. I'd like to be able to keep chickens, and have a nice garden, and perhaps a pool, but still have enough room for a dog to run.
I can't say, "Oh, I want a Colonial" or anything like that, because I've seen some really ugly houses of every style. I am partial to Victorian though, as I like the tower-esque element. On the other hand, I do like high ceilings, which aren't really found in Victorian Styles. It would be all about finding the right house at the right time.
For location, I'd probably choose somewhere outside Orlando, but I haven't traveled enough to be sure. I want nice weather, though, near a large body of water, close, if not in, a city, but also not too far from "Nature".

2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Insects actually on me. I'm okay if they're even mere millimeters away, and can even take care of them by putting them on a piece of paper and shuttling them somewhere outside, without actually killing them. But, if they're actually on me, I freak out and stay freaked out for awhile after. I'm not sure why, short of them being bugs and all. I've been stung and/or bitten a fair share of times.

Zombies. Haha, funny, right? No. I read World War Z and didn't sleep for a month. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't survive the zombie hoards in case of an outbreak, but I'd probably try and then end up killing myself at the first failure because it would be better than being bitten. That said, I've yet to be convinced of a realistic method of Zombification, so I feel relatively safe on this. But still, planning ahead wouldn't hurt.

Going to the doctor. I had a bad pediatrician growing up, and while nothing serious ever happened, she would always demean me, and never listen to what I had to say. More than once, I'd go in to get an antibiotic, because I was pretty sure I had strep throat, she would tell me I was just trying to get out of school or whatever, and only test me at my mother's instance, and I always ended up having it (similar things happened with other diseases, but I don't want to share my medical history). I don't like feeling like an idiot, and I don't like being ignored, and it really messed with me mentally, after years of it.
Now, when I need to go the doctor, I have panic attacks and I'm afraid to say anything, for fear they'll look at me like I'm an idiot. My heart also races, which has led to at least once, almost being diagnosed with a condition, but it had slowed so much by the end that the doctor figured it was just nerves.

3. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
I'm assuming the response is supposed to be somewhat personal, if not flippant, so I won't even waste my time with "World Hunger" or "Disease" plus there would totes be just another problem of sorts
Still, I'd definitely wish to cure my mom's MS, even if the world's ills cannot be cured.

All of the money that I would need to live comfortably, without working, until I die. (I know, I know, money doesn't solve everything, but it can make the everything a little easier to handle. I would also probably still work, but it would be nice to not have too.)

To be around 110-140 pounds, and healthy, without having to diet or exercise.

4. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
College, not necessarily attending or graduating, but the collective things I experienced while I was attending. I worked hard. I did well. I enjoyed myself. I made a lot of friends, despite not generally being good at that sort of thing. And, perhaps most of all, I have been told by some of those friends that I helped them make other friends too.

5. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you?
Most Important: Knowledge, because I believe it can help all those other things happen.
Least: Love, since I'm assuming it means romantic love, since Friendship and Family are also listed. I've never been that interested in having a significant other. It seems like a lot of work and I'm rather self-focused at this point and time.

6. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values?
I really hate the thought of defining myself by other people's words, so I don't have any that I've preserved, and I feel like looking something up defeats the purpose.

7. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you?
I am very good at not spending money I don't have, but bad about not spending all of the money I do have. I'm working getting better at saving, so we'll see.
Money is important to me, because as I said, I think it makes a lot of things easier. When you don't have it, it's one more HUGE thing to worry about.

8. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Reading comic books and collecting dolls are probably the biggies, though I also like watching movies, playing video games (Animal Crossing, DDR, Halo, and the occasional Adventure). For comic books, I currently read Proof, Atomic Robo, Runaways, Ultimate Spiderman, Booster Gold, and am totally torn up that Blue Beetle was cancelled. For dolls, I've collected American Girl-type dolls since I was a small child. In the past few years, I've gone into customizing them, including 3 ASOIAF-inspired dolls and sew for them (and all my others). Very recently though, I've started to get into new kinds of dolls, but I'm still exploring what ones I like.
I used to like to write in my spare time, but I haven't done much of that since getting paid for it. I still want to, but I find it tougher. I'm working on this though.

9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical).
Best:
Friendly- I try make people feel welcome when they're in my space, and I care easily.
Good Listener-I like hearing people tell their stories.
Witty- I like to think that I'm clever a little bit funny.

Worst:
Socially-awkward- In larger groups of people, I'm not quite sure what to do.
Judgemental (not necessarily negative judgements, just judgements)
Obsessive (I get really into something and then just as quickly, out of it)

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series?
Arya- Her plotline has been the best, and she has a fun personality. I consistently want to know what she's going to do next. She's also the antithesis of the standard fantasy assasin character, and I like that.
Sansa- Of all the characters, I think her growth arc has been the most dramatic, and I expect to see that continue. I think she has it in her to be a player in the game of thrones on par with Littlefinger, but less evil, or more accurately, less self-centered.
Tie for Dany and Bran- Bran has the strongest ties to magic, and based on that alone, I think he plays a major role in the future of Westeros. I also think that he has a lot of growing to do, and when he almost died, I actually believed it and was more pissed than when anyone else died.
As for Dany, what isn't there to love? She wants to learn how to better herself and has over the course of the series so far. I also think her growth arc has been pretty good, but she still has a lot to go. While Sansa, I think, is responding more to external forces as she needs to, Dany is mostly acting based on internal feelings and to achieve her own goals. I think she'll ultimately learn to be less internal though too.

2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series?
The Hound- He's very emo, and just gets on my nerves. I almost feel like if he didn't have the example of his brother as what not to be, he would be his brother.
the Mountain (does he even count?)-Uh, he rapes and kills for fun?
Robert-I find him to be selfish and a dick. The lechery also doesn't appeal to me. I was glad when he died.

3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far?
Birthing of the dragons-It was just so epic, and I think some of the best writing in the series.

4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end?
Part of the reason I like the series is because I can't guess as to an ending, so I don't really have detailed goals, just vagarities (I feel like there's a lot of those in my answers. I hope I don't need to resubmit.)
The very first thing that comes to mind is that I would hate to see John leave the Wall and give up his vows. I think it would cheapen his character and the entire Stark name, even if he is a "Snow" and probably Rhaegar and Lianna's.

I want Cersei to die horribly, ideally at the hands of Jaime or Tyrion or Arya.

I want to see the Others almost win, possibly defeated with the help of Dany and her Dragons. I want Arya to die bravely, but happily.
For Sansa, I want a happy ending, but not necessarily the Happily Ever After ending.
For Bran, I want to see him master his power, but never become healed, and perhaps find happiness with Meera.

For Jaime, I want a noble death.

For Sam, I want him to be a Maester.

For Dany, I want her to learn how to rule, and rule well. I don't think she's there yet though, and worry that we won't see the proper development of it.

For everyone else, I am mostly indifferent, partly because it's been awhile since I've read the books.

I think that's everything!
ETA: I elaborated, due to requests.

Hmm. I think because knowledge is important to you and you're a reader, and because you mention breakdowns over going to the doctor, I'm going to have to say Targaryen. They're prone to fits of madness, but also produce really smart people like Maester Aemon.

I wanted to use my Hawkgirl icon but I deleted it for an ASOIAF icon! Alas!

I'm vibeless, elaborations notwithstanding, I'm afraid. I think partially because even with the elaborations, there's not a lot to go on - it's still quite short and a bit glib, which doesn't help with a sort. No vote.

I'd like more motivation behind the answers, too. No Vote.

I'd say you're a Martell . I was in-between Tyrell and Martell, even Lannister, because you don't seem to have the Targ-ish streak to me. But then I added all that, and Martell is the vibe your app gives me mostly. =) Then I began comparing you to Asha Greyjoy and thought there was something there, but gave it up again in favor of Martell.

Reasons:
+genie wishes, #3-that, for some reason, reminded me of Oberyn =P
+you are not looking for love; while this may not sound Martell at first glance, I think it does; by what I gather, you put pleasure BEFORE love. Don't they, too? =))
+You don't want yourself described by other people's words{this was what had drawn me a BIT to the Greyjoy side at first=) )
+You like Dany for acting on internal feelings

Have fun!! =))

I think even more elaboration would help many people sort you, but you did come off with a Targaryen vibe for me. Valuing knowledge, the issue with doctors, lack of concern about romance to other things, etc.

[identity profile] harpseals.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You should pick a quote, I didn't like picking mine either but perhaps you could use some excerpt from a book or comic that resonated with you.

Ah, that's better (especially on the character answers). Thanks. :)

I think I'm going to have to join the Targaryen chorus here. They clearly strike a chord with you (Dany and her dragons), and it fits your personality traits, right down to the making your own rules.

Tyrell

I think, in the end I found a Targaryen vibe but it was particularly difficult to me. I just couldn't seem to get a great handle on you.

Martell!

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] rebelmaiden. You're a Martell.

With so little to go on it was really difficult to sort you but I will go with Targaryen as the closest vibe I could get from the little information you provided.

A fair amount of Stark, and a little Greyjoy (with the lack of emphasis on "love") but Targaryen is the one I'll go for. Obsessive, judgemental and a bit cold-blooded.

Yay! You made it over here!

Targaryen. You placed knowledge first and romantic love last. That sounds Targ-like to me. The fact that you chose not to include a quote because you don't want to define yourself by others' words is very, very Targ. Socially awkward & obsessive are Targ traits too. Then there are your fears, which are a bit irrational (the zombie one especially) & show an active imagination.

And you love Dany, so it works!

I have doctor-fears, too! I don't really have an explanation for mine, I guess I'm just always afraid they will think I'm stupid or figure out that I'm actually a hypochondriac, which is something I would rather hide from the non-psychiatric medical professions.

Anyway, I think you're a Targaryen!

And a Sandor hater! Wow!
