All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!. As far north as I could manage, while still being able to move my wheelchair about. I don't like the heat, at all. I'd prefer something in the mountains, with cold, thin air. There would, of course, have to be evergreen trees all around. As for the house itself... I would want a house large enough to comfortably contain all of my family, as well as a few friends who had decided to brave the cold to come visit. As for decoration and ornamentation, I would keep things relatively plain. The items commonly made of gold (jewelry and other decorative metalwork) would instead be done in silver. There would be a large dining hall, with an impressive fireplace for welcoming strangers from far away. Those close to me, however, would be invited into a much smaller area, more fitting a close, intimate gathering between friends.
2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Needles: I've spent my fair share of time in hospitals (and then quite a bit more), and I just hate needles. Despite this fact, I am always sure to watch them stick me. I have to be aware of what is coming, and when.
Loneliness: I'm an extremely private person. You will know where you stand with me, but there are so few who are actually aware of any personal thoughts I have. I worry that my closed-off, private nature will lead to me being friendless.
Failure: Nobody likes to mess up, granted. But I take this to an extreme. When I fail in an obligation, I have brought dishonor upon myself. There is no higher compliment than being called reliable, and no worse insult than being called a failure.
3. What is your favorite aspect of your physical appearance and why?
I'd have to say my eyes. Cold and grey, with just the right amount of warmth for those close to me.
4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would you change and why?
I would straighten my teeth. I know it's not a huge deal, but it is something about which I am self-conscious.
5. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
1. The ability to do my duty without fail.
2. A nice house, deep in the woods, where I can go to be alone.
3. Enough money to live comfortably (without getting fat and lazy) for the rest of my life.
6. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
A few quarters ago, I retook some classes I hadn't done so well on the first time, and I did very well.
7. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you?
I'll rank them from most important to least: Family, Friendship, Love, Knowledge, Money, Pleasure, Adventure.
8. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values?
"One should die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly." -Nietzsche
9. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you?
I spend almost nothing, except for what I have to. I have a responsibility to my family and friends to spend my money wisely, so that I can buy things that are needed or loan it to them when they have spent theirs less wisely.
10. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
I enjoy reading and writing. I am a gamer (role playing games, that is... with dice, paper, and friends). Most of all, I enjoy spending time with those few people whose company I enjoy. Being near those who are dear to me is truly one of life's greatest treasures.
11. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical).
The best of me...
I am very intelligent. Not a lot escapes my notice, and I am full of various pieces of information.
I am a very good listener. My friends know I will listen to what is on their minds. I don't necessarily keep an open mind about things, but I will gladly hear you out.
If there is such a thing as being loyal to a fault, then I am guilty of it. It is difficult to gain my friendship, but once you have it there is nothing I would not do for you. Also, at the risk of sounding like I'm pushing for a specific house (which I'm not, as it would be against the rules), if you cross one of my friends, you have crossed me. That's not something you want to do.
The worst of me...
I am very judgemental. I make snap decisions very easily, especially about people.
I'm very stubborn. Once I have decided that things are a certain way, it is nearly impossible to convince me of anything different. I will listen to reason, granted. But I'm pretty sure I will think my original logic beats yours.
I am quite proud. I don't like asking for help, as I see it as a sign of weakness in myself. I'm always offering help to others, but I will rarely accept help from another human being, much less ask for it.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.Which is your favorite book of the series so far? What about your least favorite?
I don't know that I can pick a favorite, as I can't remember exactly what happened in each of the books. But we'll go with... "A Storm of Swords" for my favorite (sans Red Wedding, that is), and "A Feast for Crows" as my least favorite (since it contained virtually nothing of the characters I care about.)
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series?
Bran Stark. He has a desire to push himself, and to do everything he can to adapt himself to the world. Plus, it's nice to see a character who can't walk. I can relate to that.
Arya Stark. Come on. Obvious badass in training.
Jaime Lannister. This one comes out of left field for me. I hated him (in all caps, bold, itallics, and flashing bright red), up until recently. I really do enjoy him and his golden hand.
3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series?
Cercei Lannister. Backstabbing, conniving, horrible, evil awful b*tch... I shouldn't have said that. It's an insult to female dogs.
Anyone from house Frey. Justification? Red Wedding. You don't feed someone and then... I'll stop now, before I go off on a rant.
Asha Greyjoy She just... strikes me the wrong way, I guess.
4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far?
I really can't pick just one. I suppose I enjoyed seeing Jon take command of the Watch.
5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end?
I'd really like to see the Starks win the day, but I doubt that will happen.

Date: 2008-06-02 09:56 pm (UTC)A lot of your answers were on the very short side, which would be fine, if it weren't for the fact that every single answer also happened to point to Stark and only Stark. The combination of the short answers and the pushy feel was a just a little much for me. Don't worry too much, though - it's certainly possible that I'll be the only one to feel this way.

Date: 2008-06-03 02:14 pm (UTC)I almost no-voted you, but I think that's maybe part of being a Stark - a natural tendency to reticence and brevity.

The image of someone being poked with a needle, gritting the teeth (or whathaveyou), and watching anyway, cold, seems terribly Stark. And they do face their fears, much as their duties, staring them head on, being aware, seeing what they can. And aside from that? You wishes, your traits (certainly tend to see the Starks as the most judgmental of the lot), your sense of responsibility to the family... And you've got that somewhat cold, aloof feel (with something else running beneath, perhaps) of the Starks. So, there 'tis, and there you are.

Date: 2008-06-04 05:11 pm (UTC)That, and I've basically been told from before I ever picked up the first book that I was a Stark.
I think this maybe contributed to the short length and the kind of pushing feeling of the application. However, that doesn't mean it isn't true. :D
