All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
Oh man, this is a hard question because my ideal house always changes. Sometimes I want a huge traditional mansion but sometimes I want an amazing penthouse view and sometimes I just want Tony Stark’s house. I know I want a bigger home, though, because when I’m bored or restless I tend to pace and/or run laps/jump around/fidget. I also want a huge bed with lots of soft pillows and all of the pillow pets. I want a really nice sitting room though, with floor to ceiling windows that let lots and lots of light in. And then I’ll have a piano and a nice record player and books to curl up with. Also I want a video game room. I’m sorry I don’t know that I want because sometimes I just want everything.

I really like snow, but I also really like plants, so I want to live in a place with seasons that change a lot. Autumn is my favorite, so if possible I want to live near a wooded area with trees that turn pretty colors ehehehe. I can’t really choose if I want to live in an urban setting or not, but since I have already established that I want to be Tony Stark, I wouldn’t mind having his house AND rooms in Stark Tower.

2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
Uhh I’m pretty satisfied with my life right now, and realistically I’d just save my wishes for when I need them, since to a point I am unreasonably practical and slightly paranoid about my future. On the other hand, I’m whimsical (and greedy) and probably wouldn’t bother with altruistic wishes because a) how would I word those to do the most good and b) it feels kind of like cheating and change like that doesn’t really last imo.

So, silly wishes!
- I want to be a time lord. Pretty self-explanatory, but yeah. I want to travel time and space and do things and learn all the things and maybe make a fortune investing. I also wouldn’t mind the immortality haha.

- I want a dragon. Or a flying tiger or a man-eating unicorn or a thunderbird. I’m not picky. Best pet ever.

- Kind of stuck with this last wish because I don’t know if I want to have an eidetic memory or magic powers. I’d love to remember everything I read, especially since I have the weirdest selective memory that never remembers the important things. But I also want to do cool magic things like make plants grow and idk shoot fireballs. I’d probably be a horrible magic user, though, and never follow any of the rules.

3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
I’m very proud of myself for getting a fairly competitive internship for this summer. Took a bit of groveling and that interview wasn’t my best, but I got it. We’ll see how it actually goes though. I’m also proud of my muscle memory and my ability to ice skate proficiently (I can even go backwards ohohoho) even though it’s been at least 3 years since I’ve skated, and much longer since I’ve skated with any skill.

4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
I’m caught between knowledge and money for the most important. I mean, these are the two reasons I’m in college. I want to know more and pursue my interests, and I also want to get a good job to be able to support myself, live in luxury, and give back to my parents. I also really enjoy living large, and even though I’m poor and frugal as hell right now, I wish I could just spend money freely on whatever I wanted. This probably ties into pleasure, too, because I’m super keen on enjoying myself. It just so happens that the things that make me happiest are learning and wasting money.

Mmm. Least important is probably adventure. But not really, since I consider lots of things that I do adventurous and lots of things that I’ve done adventures. The key is that I rarely seek out adventure, and whenever I try something new I tend to plan it out and make sure I understand what I’ll be experiencing before going in. Like, I’ve never been on an intentional adventure and honestly don’t feel the need to seek out excitement in that way.

5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
Oh man, this is probably a tie between “If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong” (who said this? Google is not helpful) and “A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it” by de la Fontaine.

The first is because I am kind of sassy and because I really like winning as well as always being right. It kind of describes a lot of my interactions with people ha. The second is a bit more personal and deep I guess, but it really struck me when I first read it in French cultural studies 4 years ago. To me, it basically means that all roads lead to the same destination, and there is no such thing as avoiding something forever. Whether it comes back into your life physically or just eats at your memory, nothing can truly be buried and life itself is inevitable.

6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
I think I’m okay at it? I won’t say that I’m exceptional, but I’m not failing, either. I’m pretty cheap and would rather save than spend, but every now and then I give into impulse buying, so it all evens out. I’m good at throwing money into savings and then forgetting about it, all the while carefully managing what’s left over in checking.

Financial security is very important to me! I want to make bank! My parents are probably upper middle class (can’t be sure; what is middle class anyway, it seems like everyone I ask considers themselves middle class but they definitely do not make the same annually), so I’ve lived fairly comfortably and would like to continue that. They’re really generous to me, and I want to be able to support them as well as myself when the time comes. Plus I want to live in luxury. I like having nice things. I’m pretty much all “money can’t buy you happiness but it can buy things that make you happy.”

7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
I play a lot of cards with my friends. Apparently it’s just one of those things university students do. I’m decent at presidents, amazing at liar’s poker, and crap at Egyptian ratscrew.

We also play board games. I enjoy Catan.

Sometimes we watch movies and shows! During our free time we have gotten through How I Met Your Mother, at least halfway through Doctor Who, caught up with the Walking Dead and White Collar, started Community, and our future goals include Merlin and Breaking Bad.

I crochet very poorly.

We shop a lot. And rarely buy things because we are so poor. It’s good exercise I guess.

8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
- Falling. It’s really weird, because I enjoy heights a lot. I climbed a few trees when I was a kid, and planes are one of my favorite forms of transportation. But I really hate losing my balance when up high, and I get nervous if I think too hard about what could possibly happen if I slipped.

- Failure. Obvious choice here, but I’m at school and I want to do well and I want to make something of my life.

- Power tools. Kind of a silly fear, but I almost chopped my fingers off with a radial arm saw when I was 10 and now I’m scarred for life. I double check all the safety precautions now. I’m weirdly okay with regular manual labor saws, though.

9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best
- Practical. The best kind of lazy, imo. In order to avoid doing more work, I’ve become extremely pragmatic and have thus been able to increase both my productivity and the amount of time I have to myself. This means that I can and will finish my essays early so I can get more sleep and watch more movies.
- Calm. I’m really good at handling high pressure situations without cracking, and I can keep my emotions under control when I need to. This means that I’m a good test taker, and also that I don’t really worry during the buildup before deadlines. I go through a lot of quick, small emotions, mostly happiness because I really like having fun and laughing, but I’m not the sort of person that stays angry, sad, or cheerful all night because of one good/bad thing that happened. I wouldn’t say that I’m emotionless, exactly, but I return to a state of emotional neutrality quickly and easily.
- Lucky. I have amazing luck, not gonna lie. It gets kind of ridiculous like when I’m walking in the dark with friends and am the only one not to get my feet soaked by a huge puddle. This has helped me a lot academically, of course, but what matters is that I am the best at raffles.

Worst
- Sarcastic. I’ve already said that I’m kind of sassy. I tend to mock people I’m close to and make jokes of everything. I mean, we all get along very well and know when I’m joking, so it’s okay. But I assume that people I interact with when I’m not purposefully being polite can be a bit offput.
- Obsessive. I really really like winning. I also like being the best. I will play level 3 over and over again so I can have the high score even if it means I will never progress to level 4. At least this means that I finish what I start, from TV shows to video games, although sometimes I waste lots of time doing these things.
- Selfish. I’m a fairly self-absorbed person. I think of myself first, which is great for self-preservation but also makes me a bit of a douchecanoe. I’m still pretty protective of and loyal to the people I care about; it’s just that on a certain level I think of them in relation to myself and how they affect me. Of course that’s not the first thing on my mind all the time, because I’m not a cold person. But if I were to rationalize my actions, well.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.How many books from the series have you completed?
All five.

2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
Stannis Baratheon. Mostly I like him to be contrary, but there are certain aspects of his character that I find very admirable, too. He’s really efficient in a merciless sort of way, and that he went to the Wall earned him lots of points. To be honest, part of the time I feel bad for him and how boring he kind of is, and I don’t really want him on the Iron Throne while I still want him to have a happy ending, if that makes sense? I find him very entertaining for some reason, and also he saved a hawk awww.

Arya Stark. I just really really love Arya. She was my favorite Stark from the getgo, and her storyline has only gotten better since. Her chapters are some of the most interesting, and I guess it says something about my short attention span that they’re some of the least political. She’s shown a lot of development over the series, not all of it positive, but I really hope she survives to return to Winterfell. Although I’m not the biggest fan of what’s been going down in Braavos lately.

Theon Greyjoy. So, I’m kind of torn between Theon and giving this spot to Sansa (or Jaime or Brienne or Tyrion or Margaery or Arianne everyone argh), but what I like best about Theon is how believable he is. I didn’t really like him at first (he’s not really likeable at first), but imo he’s one of the best written characters and that’s what makes his storyline resonate so strongly with me. The fact that I get so upset when he makes bad decisions (see: all of a Clash of Kings) is what really proved to me that I liked him and cared enough about what happened to him to be upset.

3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
Lady Stoneheart. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Cat in the first book, but she kind of grew on me after a while, so I’m really upset with what GRRM’s doing with her right now. Resurrection never turns out well.

Joffrey Baratheon. He’s such a little shit. I think I was mostly okay with him until I saw the way, as king, he treated Cersei. I’m not a huge Cersei fan by any definition, but a lot of the time I felt that she was the only person truly on Joffrey’s side, and he couldn’t see that. At that point I could see nothing redeemable about him.

Bran Stark. I like Bran, but his chapters are super boring for me. I think I dislike him mostly because his sort of magical discovery storylines are normally my favorite and I can’t bring myself to enjoy his POV.

4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
Probably still Dany surviving the funeral pyre and coming out with three dragons. Yay dragons! And even though I don’t really want Dany on the Iron Throne, either, I was definitely rooting for her survival from the beginning. Rebirth is a favorite theme of mine, and the way Dany presents motherhood really appeals to me. Plus, dragons!

I also really enjoyed the Battle of the Blackwater, most of Jaime and Brienne’s interactions, and Frey pie, but dragons still stand out the strongest to me.

5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
To be honest I’ve never really thought about it? I stopped hoping too much for the future when GRRM killed Robb because I don’t want to invest lol. But I have thought about what would happen if everyone decided that violence was not the answer, talked it out, apologized, and hark! the democratic republic of Westeros was born.

I also had a dream the other night where Stannis somehow got his hands on steam technology and there was a technological revolution and it was robots vs dragons.
