All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
My ideal house changes on a day-to-day basis, if I'm perfectly honest. I know I'd like it to be quite small (no mega-mansions for me thank you) and quite snug, with lots of nooks and crannies. I'd like it to be colourful, full of different textures and patterns. Not too organised, but I obviously don't want to live in a complete pigsty. Just a touch of disarray.
I'd like it to be full of books. No library, just books everywhere. In my ideal house, I'm never more than a metre away from the nearest book.
Location wise, I want a bit of everything. If the house was somehow equidistant from a city, a beach, a forest, and a mountain, that would be ideal. I'm used to quite mild weather though; anything above 25 degrees celcius would kill me to be honest!
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
1. I'd really like to be able to heal people just by touching them. Not just physically, but mentally as well.
2. Endless money. I'd love to not have to worry about money anymore.
3. I'd be really awkward and ask to save my last wish for a later date. I mean, I'm quite content at the moment, but I might not always be. Might as well save at least one wish for a rainy day.
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
Honestly, nothing. That feels like such a glib answer, but I justify it to myself by saying that I'm still young. I feel like I haven't really been given a chance to really prove myself yet, at least outside of an academic setting. I'm also hesitant of patting myself on the back too much. At the end of the day, I feel like my greatest achievement (whatever it may be) will be something that changes not only my life for the better, but someone else's too.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
Most important: Pleasure. Life is short and meaningless, and then we die. The very least we can do is attempt to make our world a little brighter, a bit more enjoyable.
Least Important: Adventure: I honestly don't think that anyone can be truly happy without Love, Money, Family (whether of the biological kind or not), Knowledge, Friendship, or Pleasure. But a life without Adventure? Well, who never strayed more that 5 miles away from where he was born can be just as happy as a great adventurer, if not more so.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" which is from The Beatles song "The End". It is just...perfect. It sums up my attitude towards the world so concisely: You cannot be loved unless you love. You cannot get out more than you put in.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
Honestly? Not very well. Which is bad, because financial security is important to me, seeing as I didn't have a whole lot of it growing up. I am learning though, slowly. My tiny student budget has kind of thrown me in the deep-end in terms of money-management, but I am slowly learning to restrain myself. I have to overcome my natural inclination towards being overly generous when it comes to money (I've actually lost track of how much money I'm owed at this point!) and learn to say no.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Reading is a huge part of my life. I'll read pretty much whatever is put in front of me, though I do gravitate towards historical books (which is what lead me to ASOIAF; I had heard that it was based in part on The Wars of the Roses.)
Singing is a big passion of mine. I'm not particularly good, but I find it so relaxing that I can't bring myself to care.I mean, I enjoy myself, and I try not to inflict my voice on other people.
I also enjoy socialising. That sounds really wishy-washy, but I honewstly just love spending time with my friends, in pretty much any context. I suppose I'm a bit of gossip, but a large part of it is that I love to laugh, and no-one can make me laugh more than my friends.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
1. Death of someone close to me. This is just the number-one worst thing that could possibly happen to me, and it's worse because it's inevitable. I do find it hard to deal with the fact that I won't always be surrounded by my family and friends, whole and healthy.
2. Deep water. Which is odd, since I grew up near the sea, so I should be an old-hand with deep water by now. Nope. Can't abide it. The thought of taking a boat out to sea makes me feel physically ill.
3. My third fear is the vague unease that something really bad is gonna happen soon. It's kind of a lame fear, but I've been so blessed in my life so far and I know it won't always be this way, and I'm just so scared of whatever inevitable life-shattering tragedy is surely coming my way.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
BEST:
1. I'm compassionate: I consider myself a caring person. I feel like there is so much awful stuff going on in the world constantly (and sometimes under our very noses) that we should all do a little to help the world. Acting cruelly and harshly towards someone achieves nothing, so what's the point of it?
2. I'm open to new ideas and possibilties. I try to be open-minded about everything, and try to hear out all the evidence before jumping to conclusions. I am always willing to be proven wrong in arguments and debates. Of course, this doesn't mean that I'll go along blindly with everything you say, but I will give you a fair hearing and try to understand your point-of-view, as long as your point-of-view isn't, you know, racist or sexist or bigoted. I probably won't respect your opinion then.
3. I'm imaginative. I always try to think outside the box, try to come up with new conclusions and ideas and not re-tread old ideas.
Worst:
1. I'm lazy. I'm so lazy. Getting the motivation to do anything is a huge effort for me, and I've acknowledged this flaw and haven't done anything about it. Because I'm too lazy. I don't really do anything until I'm absolutely pushed into it, by deadlines or other people or just a vague impending sense of doom.
2. I'm flighty. I'm the type of person who'll decide that they love rollerblading, buy a £300 pair of rollerblades, then never use them. I'm the same with romantic relationships; I can't abide the thought of being ties down to one person for longer than, say, a month, and it's the same with jobs. After a few weeks at one job, I'm on the lookout for another.
3. I'm hedonistic. I have to force myself to be a productive member of society, because I would gladly spend all my life lying on the sofa eating chocolate if I could, without feeling that I've wasted my life. I enjoy eating, drinking, and sex and it's a conscious effort to rag myself away from these pursuits to pursue something a bit more challenging and rewarding.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.How many books from the series have you completed?
I'm two chapters from finishing ADWD.
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
1. Brienne. She's just a good person. She consistently puts other people before herself and constantly strives to do better. Out of everyone in ASOIF, she's who I aspire to be. Just a good person with no agenda apart from protecting those who are weaker than herself. For someone to be so good whilst living in such an awful world, that takes a real strength of character and conviction that I don't think she gets credit for.
2. Sansa Stark. Such an amazing character with such a rewarding story arc. To read as she grows from a naive little bird into a woman who will surely rival her mother in tenacity and courage is incredible. Plus, she's still incredibly nice to pretty much everyone (apart from Arya in AGOT, but there's no accounting for irrational sibling hatred) despite having every reason to treat everyone like muck after how she's been treated.
3. Dolorous Edd. I dunno, he's just funny. I love reading any scene he's in, and I like that he's not a POV character. Having him come in and Eyyore-up the place every now and then is a welcome respite from the doom and gloom that sometimes pervades the books.
3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
I hate
1. Joffrey Baratheon
and
2. Ramsay Snow
and
3. Walder Frey
for pretty much the exact same reason: they are terrible, awful people with no redeeming qualities at all. They are just ugh. Even thinking about them makes me angry.
4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
It's a toss-up between Dany seeing Khal Drogo in the House of the Undying and Bran greenseeing for the first time, and seeing his father in the godswood. Both made me cry, because I'm such a softy, and that's partly what I like about them. They remind us of the human aspect of the whole series. It's easy to forget, after so much tragedy (So. Much. Tragedy.) that every person who died meant something to someone. As a reader, I have tendency to forget the characters once they're gone, but it's scenes like that which remind me how tragic their deaths actually were.
5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
With a birth. I don't even care who the parents are. I feel like the current generations of Westoros and Essos have completely screwed everything up, and that only a new generation can restore any kind of peace and order. I'm also drawing parallels to The Wars of the Roses, which only truly ended when Arthur, Prince of Wales was born to Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, who were both from rival families. If the warring families could be joined by the birth of a new generation (who could perhaps fufill all those highfalutin prophecies at least) I would be a happy bunny.

I think that the Tullys are more about duty, so Tyrell wins out.
