Location: Vermont
Occupation: Video Game Development (I founded the company and run the business side as well as create almost all of the visual aspects and UI direction of the games)
All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
I love living in Vermont, I cannot imagine living in a place without seasons. Here summer feels so amazing when it arrives and winter so serene and beautiful with the big hills of snow, (fall and spring are of course great as well). I cannot imagine being far from the woods, or the fields, and the isolation inside the beauty is perfect with just the small and friendly community surrounding you at a distance.
My ideal home would be something small but beautiful and stylish- either a classical farm house with timber beam / plaster interior or a more contemporary (but still warm) build with steel beams). Fireplace is absolutely necessary, as is a library and LOTS of light and windows.
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
(I'm not huge on wishing for things since I believe that you should make your wishes happen, and things never come without a cost, but here we go)
1. Pick a beautiful piece of land and it would be mine.
2. Season tickets and free air fare / hotel to the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company)
3. That I wasn't allergic to cats - not that I particularly like them but it can be a pain in the ass
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
I graduated college a month ago and am right now sitting in my own office with three employees making games for a living. I said I would do something and did, it's that easy and I can't wait to keep on doing that with many things throughout life. The thing that makes me the most proud is when I am speaking and younger girls (7-14) look at me with admiration.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
Most: Pleasure but I really mean Happiness, which is directly tied to Love. At least a few times a day I lean back and feel supremely happy- that is a combination of loving where I live, what I do, my boyfriend, my parents and my sister very very much. I believe strongly that since mental processes are all we can be certain on in existence Happiness (or pleasure I guess) is the most vital thing and each day should be lived for that if anything (although to do that smartly you have to think ahead to assure the most prolonged happiness)
Least: Adventure - I love travelling and seeing new things but I love my home the most of all and my close family and my one or two close friends. I have no wanderlust and often times am happiest with a good book, cup of tea, and a fireplace.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
It's a little instance, and I am not this harsh but this one always really resonated with me:
"I will seize fate by the throat." -Beethoven
The others I like are often from existentialist authors which are essentially the same sentiment just more subdued.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
I am decent with money. I love to live comfortably- it is very important to me. I have never been able to buy food that isn't quality because of growing up close to so much good local food. I cannot imagine living anywhere besides in the thick beauty of Vermont and I enjoy nicer things so money defiantly plays a role in my lifestyle. I sail, yacht, fly, and drive/motorcycle with my boyfriend and enjoy it immensely.
I was fortunate enough to have parents that paid for me to go to a good school, and am very excited to be earning my own living now. I put effort into my own business and even though the finances are tight now sine we are just starting, I hope it will pay off in the long run.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
I enjoy writing (both fiction and analytical philosophical essays), reading (classical lit and one or two more modern things), theater, baking, drawing, and doing graphic design. Also as a video game creator I go enjoy playing games but I do it less than I should and only buy about 2-3 major titles a year and 3-5 indie titles.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Not much... I used to be afraid of a lot of things but then I realized one night that thinking about it would do no good if anything really happened so why bother being afraid. But if I had to pick...
1. Those giant spiders that make webs outside the windows at my house. They are just creepy.
2. I'm a bit weird about ghosts, which is strange considering I was in a room with one and fine, but ever since then being in places where they might be around creeps me out.
3. Failure. Each day I have the lurking sense that someone is going to show up and say "what do you think you're doing? this is all wrong, we are taking it all away, you're not allowed to do these things" - it's so stupid but it is there and having a business is a huge responsibility that can be pretty scary.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best:
Ambition / Strength - I do things. I say I will do them, and I do. This also I think carries over in situational awareness and being very strong and calm in intense emotional situations.
Cleverness - I am smart: I am very good at problem solving and taking in new information.
Charisma - People remember me. I am very good at making sincere and straight forward impressions on people which makes me a good public speaker and has been a massive part of my success so far
Worst:
Arrogance - I try to work on this, but I inevitably come across as arrogant to people because I am very secure and often times can be rather brash.
I can't keep my mouth shut sometimes - things slip out. I speak my mind too readily sometimes. I also have a sailor mouth.
Low Tolerance for infuriating / ignorant and cruel people or situations.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.How many books from the series have you completed?
All, including TWOW chapter on GRRM's site, but I haven't heard/read any other chapters from Book 6
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
All my favorite characters are people I find fascinating to read about, it does not mean they are like me- in fact often times it's that they are different enough that they are unpredictable and therefor interesting to read.
1. Sandor Clegane - his character is so rich and I am a huge Sansa/Sandor fan. Sincerity is a HUGE value for me so I like that aspect of his character as well.
2. Bronn - Bronn is the only character who I don't feel I fully understand. He's a badass character first for his fighting skills, but mostly because in less than a year he went from a sellsword in an inn to a powerful lord. I still don't know if he named Lolly's bastard after Tyrion as a joke or to honor him or both- so much about him is still a mystery to me.
3. Stannis - Stannis is just such a combination of tragedy, intelligence, strength and confused morality that I can't get enough of his character. He's the king I would bend the knee to.
3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
1. Littlefinger - I HATE Littlefinger, and of all the characters I want to see die in the books he's right up there with Ramsey. He's just so creepy with Sansa and so full of himself and his lies and his plans.
2. Renly - it's not that I hated Renly, he just irritated me with his conceit and ignorance in his actions. His materialism is also something I don't care for.
3. Melissandre - her assumptions with the visions and conceit bug me, and what she has done to Stannis, that being said, hearing more about her past was interesting and I want to learn more.
4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
Oh wow, too many to chose from. I really enjoy the foreshadowing / visions, "That same maid slaying a giant in a castle made of snow" and the house of the undying and everyone's dreams / fever visions are the best part of the books for me. Sandor being my favorite character I love all of his moments with Sansa. But the two moments that got the biggest physical reaction out of me:
+Dany loosing her dragons on the slave trader and freeing the Unsullied
+Arya taking her revenge on The Tickler
5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
Uhhhg that's so hard!
I want everyone to be happy, but is that even close to realistic? I'd love to see Dany on the throne with Stannis (happy!) as her hand and the Starks reunited. I do think Dany and Jon are destined for each other, and I would love to see Asha at Pyke with Theon and Jeyne trying to give it some joy. Most of all: Sansa and Sandor to be together, but I am torn between Sansa as Queen in the North or Rickon as a fierce King of Winter. Other than that, I can't even speculate / wish... the whole fun is not knowing
