All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.

A house in London, not a manor with 10 bedrooms and a huge garden. It would be either a townhouse in Central London or a detached house in very quiet area, with 4 or 5 bedrooms and a little terrace. It would have a Regency or Victorian look to it, no modern architecture for me, I want something that blend in the neighbourhood. The only modern part of the house would the plumbing and electricity and some of the furniture, a mix of practicality and aestheticism.

2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!

#1. Perfect health for my father and I. We are often sick, and I would like for us to be healthy and stay that way.

#2. £10.000.000, enough to buy my dream house, to live comfortably, to have my father retire without a problem, and offer a good future for my hypothetical children.

#3. Change some of my physical traits, not everything of course, I'd still look like myself, a better version of myself. No breast implants or that kind of things for me.

3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)

I'm the first in my family (fatherside) who graduated high school, it may sound unimpressive, but it was a big step at the time, none of my grandparents, uncles, aunts or older had managed to do it before, I like to think I opened the way for my younger cousins, after all, if someone like me can do it, it can't be that difficult.

4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.

Money. I know it sounds like I'm greedy but I think of myself as a realist on that one. We live in a world where if you got no money, you can't enjoy life at its fullest, you must pay for almost everything and it's not getting cheaper. I'm not saying the others aren't important, I just think that nowadays if you don't have money, it can spoil the happiness you can find in less materialistic purposes.

Adventure. I'm not adventurous, I like to know what's going to happen to me, I need to feel secure. I don't know how to explain it in any other way. I understand that for some people it's important, but in a world, things change so fast, I prefer my life to be my anchor when I feel lost, and too much adventure wouldn't give me that.

5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.

Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on .
Queen 'The Show Must Go On'

I went through a few things that broke me inside, but I worked hard to keep my head high, it's not always working, but I'm still trying. The lyrics speak for themselves, I don't think I need to explain, we all have some bad memories that could take us down, but we must go on.

6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.

I'm not a big spender, I inherited money from several family members years ago, and it's only now that the times are a little harder than usual that I'm using it (and not much). When I have money, I put it on an account, and I don't touch it until I have no other choices. It may sounds strange after my answer on question 2, but I can assure you that once I'd have my house and furniture, the rest of the money would go to the bank and mostly stays there.

7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?

Drawing. It's a good way to express myself, even if I'm really bad at it. And I'm really really bad, I barely can draw a circle, but I still enjoy it, it helps me concentrate.

Reading. The best way to travel without moving, it's a cliché but it's true. When I read, I can forget about my problems, and imagine a very different world. I tried writing but my mind doesn't know how to edit so I gave up.

Singing. A great way to spend my energy. But only when I'm alone, I'm not tonedeaf but it's close enough that I don't want anyone to hear me or at least know it's me. I sing in my room to wake up my mind, or in front of my computer, to stay awake, and it works.

8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.

Heights. Make me stand on a chair, and I shake like a leaf, I don't know why, I have no bad memories attached to heights. I went to the London Eye (I'm a masochist), and I was still shaking minutes after being back on the ground, it's really bad.

Critters. Spiders, bugs, snakes, you name it, and I'll probably turn white or green. I can understand bugs since I'm allergic to their bites, but the others, I don't know, maybe the portrayal of those creatures in medias influenced me, I still prefer to stay away from them.

Abandonment. It happened to me and it tore me up so bad that it's difficult for me to trust and let people be close to me, it's way too easy to be hurt by someone you gave a piece of your heart to.

9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.

BEST

I'm a good-listener, always have been, even when I was in primary school, people would come to me for advice, I'm not the judging kind so I was ready to listen to my friends.

Easy-going, I'm not the most difficult person in the world, far from it, I take things as they come, even when it's not always easy. I don't like to make problems, it would just complicate my life.

Realist, life is hard, there are good times and bad times, you just need to understand that it can go either ways. I know people don't always consider this as a good thing, but I just think it's the best way to enjoy the best and to bear the worst and keep on living.

WORST

I'm bad-tempered, yes I'm easy-going but there are things that makes me go nuts, and when that happens, I'm really at my worst, it's a family trait, we're mediterraneans, and we're not known for suffering fools.

I'm hypersensitive, I take things to heart, and it's sometimes hard to deal with the overflow. I take it as it comes but I have a breaking point, and it's not pretty, I can get really depressed because of it.

My lack of self-confidence, I tried to work on it many times, but it never worked. It makes things more difficult, I'm very shy and the both put together stopped me from being as social as my classmates and colleagues.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.How many books from the series have you completed?

Right now, I'm trying to read ADwD, I've been trying for many months now, but I keep falling asleep.

2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?

Jaime Lannister. From the very start, I saw him as a character with a lot of potential, his personnality attracted me because under the pretty boy/mighty soldier aspect there's something much deeper to him. The following books make me saw him as a scarred little boy in some ways, he didn't suffer at the hands of their father like Tyrion, but his relation to Cersei made him unbalanced, I think she was the dominant twin and nobody really tried to separate them after their mother's death, I think the character would have been extremely different if he had been raised away from his sister. The Kingslayer business is an added scar, he saved King's Landing and its inhabitants by killing the mad king, and all he got for it is mockery and disgust from his peers, number of them would have fleed the city as fast as possible.

Arya Stark. A strong female character even as a child, Arya is different from the other noble girls, her sister first in line. She's different and she's proud of it, and from what I understood, it makes her a true Stark woman. I think that's why Ned let her get away with it, she reminds him of Lyanna. Arya is not afraid to get dirty to reach her goals, in the world of ASOIAF, it's one of the best way to survive when you're a woman, she see things as they are, she knows what she needs to do, but she's still herself and even the name changes, she's still a Stark.

Do I really need to choose? My third favourite changes often, and right now it's stuck between Willas and Garlan, the less known Tyrells. Like with Jaime, I think Willas could be an interesting character, I see a lot of potential in him, as for Garlan, he's the nice chubby kid who became a good, competent knight, I can't help liking him. Sorry but I can't choose.

3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?

Walder Frey. Do I really need to explain why I can't bring myself to like my character? He's a little man with a big title, he took everything that can go wrong in this situation, and made sure it happened, he's a coward with no honor.

Catelyn Stark. And not because of her treatment of Jon Snow, but because she keeps making bad decisions, she only sees things her way. The worst is the arrest of Tyrion, her husband and daughters are in King's Landing where there's three Lannisters around every corner, and the best idea she can think of, is to anger them. She left Bran and Rickon alone in Winterfell and stayed with Robb, even if to us 14 years old is very young, in ASOIAF, he's considered a man, but she chose to follow him instead of going back to her younger children, one of them having woken up from a coma and lost the use of his legs (nothing important after all). And that's just a few things I don't like about her.

Tywin Lannister. Pretty much the same reasonning as for Walder Frey, the award of the worst father with it. He didn't engage the Lannisters in the Rebellion until he was sure the wind had turned against the Targaryens. He's the worst kind of opportunists with absolutly no morals, even for ASOIAF.

4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?

The death of Joffrey, even if he'sn not in my bottom three, he's one of my least favourite character, and I love than he got what he deserved. The whole wedding is a summary of everything that is wrong with Joffrey, his death is fitting, he is a spoiled brat who spend his life ordering people around, in his last moments he can't even call for help.
The problem with this question, is that there are favourite moments for each favourite characters and least favoutites too.

5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?

In my dream world, the Starks take back Winterfell, Cersei get her due, Tommen takes over Casterly Rock (even if I don't think he'll survive), most of the Freys die before Walder croak, and Arya become Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. But since you never know who will live and die, I will keep this answer to that, there are too many possibilities.

Ah ah bienvenue :). Hum I mostly see Tully in this. Stmething about family, enduring and being cold headed and realist and yet very sensitive.

I am thinking Tully for you because what you desire is fairly simple and very family-oriented (especially since you even consider your future children.) You actually remind me a lot of Catelyn, especially with the song lyric you chose. You're definitely a trooper! Your sense of morals (Joffrey's death, desire to see Cersei/the Freys get their due) is very Stark but I think the Tully wins out for me.

What's most important to you shows throughout the app - financial security, love of money, your family. This screams Lannister.

I'm gonna say TYRELL b/c it seems people who get voted as Tully tend to get their panties in a wad if they don't like Catelyn. But if you end up being sorted as a Tully, I hope you aren't upset. We're nice, I promise!

Also, you seem more Tyrell than Tully to me with the focus on money and your choice of quote. (And I'm sorta surprised the Tyrells here didn't immediately go with Tyrell for you, since they tend to vote that way for anyone that remotely looks like a Tyrell. ;-P )

I actually see a straight-cut Lannister. From the devotion to family, the realistic outlook, the emphasis on financial security, I totally heard a rampant lion roaring. I lol-ed when I saw that you had specified the exact amount of money. Only a Lannister would take care to do that!

Tully. Your application shines with a such a lovely light of humility. You have a sense of duty to your family. A sense of pride in an accomplishment that really is deserved. You read characters in a light judged by their actions - not just their traits. It's very honorable. Tully. :)

Tully. I always feel a bit uncomfortable sorting someone into a house where they dislike one of the main characters from that house (such as Catelyn, for you), but reading why you dislike Cat, none of those reasons seem to be anti-Tully to me. Your focus on family, yes, but your traits and just the vibe of your app pushed it into Tully territory for me.

Also, Jaime and Arya love! Perfect, flawfree taste there, I must say. XD

Wow... Um... I have to say, I didn't see Tully at all when I was reading your app. I mean, I guess I can see where people are getting it in hindsight, but I was waffling between Lannister and Tyrell the whole time, myself. I see a lot of both, but I think Lannister wins out for me. The importance of money, and the *reason* you want money... the fear of abandonment... the quote (never let them see how much you're hurt-- I actually think it's an excellent quote for both Lannister and Tyrell) ... I think your penchant for realism, though, and your "worst" traits push me more towards the Lions. There are a lot of things in here that remind me of Cersei.

That said, though, I'll be happy if you come join us in Riverrun, as looks likely. :)

Hm... this app was hard for me. When I sort, I try to pinpoint the distinctive overall "feel" I get from an app and for this one it was, like you said, a sort of broken and unconfident or easily hurt type feel (if that makes sense), which doesn't really remind me of any house but could maybe fit certain members of houses? Like, perhaps a quieter Stark like Sansa/Bran or a young Garlan? I do think if I had to pick a house most fitting for this feel, though, it would be Stark.

[STARK]

[identity profile] tactician.livejournal.com 2012-05-18 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'm going to go Lannister; for some reason I thought of Tyrion, with your realism, care for family and good-listener traits, because for me, Tyrion in the first few books has always been someone who cares for his family and is very touchy over certain subjects.
