Oh, good! :) (I love these books so, and it makes me completely unreasonably happy when I succeed in making someone else interested enough to read them, even if via only a small, partial contribution.) I'm glad you liked them! I'm eagerly awaiting the chance to read Captain Vorpatril's Alliance.

I have been a B5 fan for YEEEEEAAAAARS

Me too! I started watching season 2 as it was airing and have been a fan ever since, though I really need to do a re-watch. (I actually embarked on one recently, with my kids, who are now old enough to at least enjoy the funny bits and the space battles, if not the politics and philosophy, but we only got about 3 episodes in.)

I'm a Dresden Files fan, too, and as a series I think I do like it better than Alera, though I guess we'll see if I still think so once it's complete. But I wish Alera had more of a fandom, because I love the world (furies are one of the most fun magic systems I've encountered yet, and I love the way they're used, especially in battle, though the battle scenes did start feeling a little old around Princeps), and I love the character ensemble (especially Kitai and Max and Gaius Sextus, and also Aldrick, because I would not be me if my favorite character in a series were not a bit player), which is the perfect combination for fanfic, except almost none seems to be out there. I do have some problems with the series as written, the biggest one being that it seems to want to be both a grey morality world and also have the good guys triumph and be recognized to be universally good and have the bad guys be punished and recognize the error of their ways.
