All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
My dream home is a huge, 2-floor mansion. It should be in the countryside, surrounded by a (huge) park with trees and flowers. I'd like a hedge maze, too. There should be a couple of fountains and statues scattered around, for ambience, and benches in some quiet place under the tree so I could read in peace.
The house itself should be, well, did I say huge already? Victorian style wouldn't be bad. The living room, lounge and dining room would be downstairs, while upstairs I'd place bedrooms and bathrooms and such. But put a bathroom downstairs too, just in case. And a verandah too, with more plants. With some cozy round tables where I can have my afternoon tea.
My room would be facing east, so I can have sunlight in the morning, but I'd have a sitting room facing west for the afternoons. I'm not picky about the furnishing, as long as it's tasteful and preferably in pastel tones. The floors in the bedrooms would be either parquet or covered with carpets, so I could go around barefoot or wearing just socks. My bed would be huge, fluffy and with three pillows. And I'd have lots of bookshelves around, so I could stop piling stuff on the floor.
Well, you did say ideal. Not realistic. The house I'd (realistically) like to live in is an apartment in the city center, close to uni, possibly with a balcony. And a parquet. Quite like the place I'm living in now, but maybe a bit bigger and without my siblings around.

2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Death. I'm scared of oblivion. It makes me uncomfortable so I'd rather not elaborate any further.
Exams. Sigh. Isn't everyone? The pressure around exams time makes me nervous, my self-esteem plummets and I start to curse myself for being such a procrastinator. In general, I'm afraid of being judged.
Stupidity. This might not make much sense, but... well, every day I read the news and there's people doing stupid things, killing each other, trying to destroy the environment. Don't get me started on the government. I'm afraid sooner or later someone will make a bigger mistake than usual, and then our country will be royally screwed. Again.

3. What is your favorite aspect of your physical appearance and why?
My eyes? xD Clichéd, but it's the only thing I've been complimented for lately. They're a weird blue/green colour and tend to change according to the weather. Plus I can't think of anything else. I'd like my hair if it wasn't so unruly.

4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would you change and why?
My teeth. The ones at the back are crooked, and they make me look like a vampire when I smile.

5. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
I'd like to live a long and healthy life.
I'd like to stop being so lazy and shy.
And then I'd like to find happiness.
I was tempted to pick money, or the world's most wonderful boyfriend, but I think if I had true happiness then the rest would be secondary. I was also thinking about world peace, but in the end I'm a selfish bastard. Besides I'd need more than a wish for that, I'd need a miracle.

6. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
Hm, I'm not good on pride, I don't think I've done anything worthwhile. I'd have to say winning a scholarship last year, it was rather hard to get in. But I might lose it soon if I can't keep my average marks high enough, so I don't know if it amounts to that much.

7. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you?
Pleasure takes the top spot, since it's the closest possible to happiness. I suffer from terrible mood swings, and I really hate those depressive periods of my life.
Knowledge is also rather high, considering it's the only thing that makes us different from other animals, and Family, Friendship and Love can juggle the 3rd place. Money tags along.
Adventure would have to be the least important. I'm a bit of a couch potato, and though I don't like boredom I don't actively pursue adventure.

8. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values?
"I belong to one race only, the human race." -Albert Einstein
(Not an exact quote, I'm going from memory and translating from Italian.)

9. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you?
I can be rather stingy. I's not that I don't like spending, but I don't like spending more than needed. For example if I'm at the restaurant and I'm undecided between two dishes, I tend to pick the cheapest one. Even if I'm not paying. But if someone offers to pay my bill, all the better.
However I wouldn't say I'm a cheapskate, I'd rather save up for something I really like and spend all the money on a single item than making several unnecessary purchases.
Money is quite important to me, though not one of my priorities. If I land a job with a good pay, I'll be happy, but as long as I have enough money to lead a comfortable lifestyle it's ok with me.

10. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Surfing the 'net. I spend quite a lot of time online, I've got many friends I only contact through MSN now (they're either ex-classmates, people who moved away, or friends who live far from here). I'm also into a couple of gaming sites, icon communities and of course the lufferly ASOIAF fandom.
I love to read books, though lately I don't read in my spare time but rather during my daily train rides between home and uni (one hour every day, meh).
I also watch several anime, though not the mainstream ones (apart from a couple of exceptions). Like with books, I'm into obscure fandoms not many people have heard of.

11. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical).
Best:
Smart. I've got a good memory and can remember things. I'm good at problem-solving, if I concentrate long enough.
Open-minded. I try to look at all of the sides of a discussion, and then decide. I try to listen to new ideas before taking sides.
I've got a lot of patience. I might be angry at anything and everything, but I try not to let it show and get along with people. And I try to help them if they ask me advice/a favor.
Worst:
I'm very shy. I don't like being into crowds. And I feel awkward when meeting new people, it takes a bit for me to open up.
I have a very short attention span. I can't focus on one single thing at a time, I tend to start lots of different things at the same time, and then fail to complete either of them. I simply lack the willpower. I fall back with studies and deadlines a lot.
I'm lazy. I copied the above paragraph from another application I filled for [livejournal.com profile] asoiaf_stamp, is that lazy enough?

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Which is your favorite book of the series so far? What about your least favorite?
I don't think I can pick one. The truth is that I haven't read them in a while, so I wouldn't remember where my favourite scenes were. Most likely scattered through the series.

2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series?
Littlefinger. Not many people like him, but I do. I love smart, snappily-dressed villains, and though he's up to no good and probably has DOOM spelled all over him, I can't help feeling sorry for the bastard. He's quite interesting, in a creepy and twisted way.
Jaime. Before reading the last books I would have shuddered at the suggestion, but he's won my sympathy after losing his hand, and of course him burning Cersei's letter was priceless.
Brienne. Teaming up with Jaime to make up my second-favourite ship, she's the girl I'd want to have as a friend if I ever found myself in Westeros. At least she'd guard my ass, Westeros is one scary place to live in! I've often felt out of place too, so I can sympathize.

3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series?
Joffrey. I even hate him more than Cersei, which makes no sense since it's her fault he got like that in the first place. But seriously, he deserved what he got.
Catelyn. Never really liked her. The only good thing to come out of the Red Wedding was her death, but it wasn't enough to get rid of her. Woe.
Tyrion. His brother goes up, he goes down. He was funny enough at first, but then he lost control.

4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far?
The night of the Blackwater Battle, and The Kiss That Never Was. They got left out, but if you'd asked me for my top 5 favourite characters, Sansa and Sandor would both be there.

5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end?
Let's see... Tyrion goes to see Dany, but instead of giving him a dragon she feeds him to the dragons. Then she goes to Westeros, rides up to the wall and incinerates Melisandre, Stannis and the Others. Then she finds that she likes the place beyond the Wall very much, and she decides to stay there.
Cersei is all happy but then Arya turns up and stabs her.
Sandor turns up and marries Sansa, Brienne enters the Kingsguard and snogs Brienne... I haven't quite figured out who's King, but somebody will.

Your love of the palatial, plus your tendency toward pleasurable indolence and desire for reading/discovering things says House Tyrell to me.

Another difficult app for me, but I think your taste in homes, your patience, your admiration of the ambitious Littlefinger, and your affinity for pleasure make me agree with the above. You're smart and don't like stupidity, so you'll get along peachy with Olenna, and you'll be able to live that comfortable lifestyle with the Tyrell riches. Your wish for a long and healthy life seems to match their motto, Growing Strong.

I vote House Tyrell.

[identity profile] keptawake.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to go with House Tully. I think that, in a lot of ways, Tyrell and Tully are pretty similar. The Tyrells are more extravagant, and that seems to fit you in some ways, but I can't imagine a Tyrell being shy and you've mentioned that as one of the qualities about yourself that you wish you could change. That's a big part of why I went with Tully instead.

I'm gonna go way off from everyone else and say Lannister. Why? First of all, your intelligence/appreciation for wit made me think of them. Your carefulness with money without being stingy, your huge house, fear of stupidity, a little bit a laziness and I can see a Lannister wanting to read the obscure books/animes just to be more awesome. Lol.

[identity profile] ender839.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Gosh, this was a tricky one! You seem to enjoy the tastefully opulent, to be reserved, and not to want to dominate the world. Honestly, that sounds a bit like Stark behavior. Especially your spending habits. :) However, you're a bit too much of a romantic to belong in the North, and your pursuits of happiness and pleasure fit you right in with House Tyrell.

[identity profile] valardohaeris.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm also going to go with House Tyrell. You have a desire for and appreciate pleasure, but also appreciate some of the more simpler things in life that aren't as materialistic. You present yourself in a warm way, but there's a glint of something to make you someone I'd generally not want to mess with. You also seem devil-may-care, which is a trait I associate more with the Tyrell's than any other house for some reason.

[identity profile] horitsu-kami.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You want a "huge" house in a "huge" park, you have a love of reading / knowledge... seems like a fairly open and shut case for Tyrell.

[identity profile] scytheandroses.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You were a bit tricksy, here. Wavering in and out and... Hrn. In the end, I think that, aye, House Tully is the most suitable option for you. Was actually leaning toward Lannister for a little while, but there's not enough pride going on, and think they capitalize far more on adventure. No slight amount of Tyrell, as well, but... Think it was the putting adventure at the bottom of the list, the aforementioned non-emphasis of pride, and indications along that line that pointed far more toward the land of Tully.

They might not all revel in pleasure, but they don't exactly shun it, either (and some of them do like it quite a lot). And, actually, inasmuch as the majority of them do desire pleasure, it's more in the form of general happiness; they'd rather have the happier times (realizing, of course, that others come along), and those seem more important than pleasure of autres sorts. Think the Tullys would tolerate a bit of laziness, as well... It happens, and they're not exactly stiff-necked DO NO RELAX HOW DARE YOU sorts. Not by a long shot. Open-mindedness seems well-placed with the Tullys... And your wishes? Can see a member of the Tully house wishing for pretty much that same line.

Sooooo yes. If you'd like more explanation, can certainly give it. Otherwise, there stands the vote.

I think you stand more on the Lannister side of things.
A couple passages from your application make me think so.

"My dream home is a huge, 2-floor mansion. It should be in the countryside, surrounded by a (huge) park with trees and flowers. I'd like a hedge maze, too. There should be a couple of fountains and statues scattered around, for ambience, and benches in some quiet place under the tree so I could read in peace."

That definitely reminds me of a Lannister quality. Maybe not all the flowers and tree's, but the mansion-like house and all of it's accessories would certainly cost quite a bit of money, and would be a good investment.

Your fear of stupidity and love of knowledge also gives me a Lannister feel. Though they can be destructive, it's usually thought out quite well and carried out with a great deal of knowledge acquired beforehand.

So House Lannister it is.

After re-reading this three times, I'm getting a Stark feel from you. A taseful but palacial home, with plenty of landscaping and quiet places to read, hidden away in the North so you never have to meet anybody if you don't want to. Certainly Ned Stark seemed more open minded as a leader than any of his peers, always willing to listen to his subjects and judge a situation fairly.

Tyrell

Oh, you are definately a Tyrell!

Your emphasis on happiness and personal pleasure definately strikes me as Tyrell-esque. They do certainly seem to enjoy the finer things in life. And your description of your dream home sounds like it definately belongs somewhere in the Reach,

Honestly, from your answer to the first question right through until the end I could get no vibe that was not from House Tyrell! It's been said about the mansion surrounded by flowers and trees, but I feel the need to point it out just once more because it was the first thing that made me think of the house. Even your least favorite characters made me think of the house - or at least Joffrey did, because of what the Tyrells wanted to do to him.

[identity profile] deeplyunhip.livejournal.com 2008-05-28 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm seeing a very strong mix of Tully and Tyrell but my final choice is Tyrell. From your home description, I get the feeling that you'd love spending time in Highgarden and you have a variety of qualities I associate with the Tyrells, such as a love for reading, a sense of practicality, and an appreciation of pleasure. I also just get this vibe that you'd have a kickass time hanging around with Loras, Margaery, and Olenna. ;)

Your house description plus the fact that you value pleasure and your choice of favourite characters make me think Tyrell
