All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
It would be an elegant 19th century English mansion with a huge park, a lake and that general "Victorian ghost story" aura. Preferably not far from London so I could go to the Covent Garden/ENO anytime.
I'd keep horses and a huge amount of cats. I'd like antique furniture with inlay, a bed with curtains, a huge wardrobe for all my burando and medieval/Victorian gown replicas. I'd definitely have a godswood.
If I could live in other eras, I'd be either a princess in tsarist Russia or a Roman lady in the late Republic.
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
- Make the Frankfurt Opera release a dvd of their current Billy Budd production. (It's a modern take with an interesting concept and the best bass ever to play Claggart. I have a serious bad guy crush!)
- Brainwash humanity into forgetting war and violence.
- Let me make a Julius Caesar movie with my dreamcast and unlimited budget.
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
- I haggled a rare BtSSB dress from $400 to $255. Like a boss.
- I wrote a western novella, my first try to write in English. (Zapata western actually.)
- As for westerns, my thesis was about Sergio Leone. I got away with the genre I loved most instead of writing about some boring art crap...
- I read Shakespeare at ten and enjoyed it. Wondered why other people had problem with it...
- Same for Les Misérables. When I finally came to the musical, I was over 15 readings.
- I made at least 3 people Britten fans.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
Most: Family - why, it's everything to me. What would I do without them? I would also never abandon my children like Cat. That is, if I ever HAD children.
Least: Pleasure - I'm pretty much uninterested. Of the seven sins, lust isn't even an option. Wrath is my sin. (Or... does drooling over Khal Drogo count? :D)
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
"Vengeance is a dish served cold" - Khan
I'll one day find and humiliate everyone who ever wronged me.
"Shoot me now or shoot me later
Every schoolboy to his sport
Death to each and every traitor
I renounce your people's court!" - Inspector Javert, being awesome.
I could quote just about anything from him but I particularly love this scene, he's surrounded by very angry revolutionaries, not afraid at all, being all "come at me bro". In the book, he's even better. He'd make an awesome Kingsguard (but being as stubborn as Stannis and as honourable as Ned, he wouldn't last long in Westeros).
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
Security is very important. And I never buy useless things, but I don't hesitate when I really need/want something either.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Opera - I'm into the hardest stuff - Wagner (Ring is so epic... the only thing to make it better would be if Brünnhilde had walked out of Siegfried's funeral pyre with some dragons!), Britten (gotta love slashy, tragic operas!), Mozart. Yes, Mozart is hard. It may seem light and fluffy, but just look at things like the Commendatore scene. Love Verdi and Puccini too. Dislike opera buffa.
Writing - various fantasy and steampunk projects, and an Age of Sail WIP which I progressed over 220 pages by now. It's dark, gloomy and will end with pretty much everyone dead. Good guys included.
Drawing - fanart mainly. Wish I had a tablet and patience for Photoshop. Photoshop I have...
Lolita fashion - frills. Ruffles. GOOD lace. Petticoats, bonnets, bloomers, being princess-y. I've always been into historical fashion but one just can't run around in crinolines like Scarlett. Loli is the same but with knee-length skirts. Problem solved, I can even drive in it!
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Spiders. They're fucking gross. I have a crusade against them.
Wasps and just about anything that buzzes and has a sting (but not bees. Bees are cute.)
Horror/disaster movies. I just hate watching disgusting things (unless it's ASOIAF. Watching Viserys being crowned? Perfectly ok. Watching disfigured serial killers in work? NEVER. I won't even watch Batman movies.)
And I'm not telling my biggest fears since the questions didn't say BIGGEST. Problem?
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best: witty (Would I enter a battle of wits? Well, if I had developed an immunity to iocane powder, maybe), good-humoured (I write parodies of pretty much everything), intelligent (Do I really have to boast? This is a job interview question. I hate job interviews.)
Worst: fast to anger (and usually fast to calm), cursing like a sailor all the time (is it bad? I enjoy it), unforgiving (to people I'm not related to).
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why? Tyrion because he's awesome, Roose because he's cunning and has a certain elegance in his evil, and Jorah because he's just a huggable bear.
Ok, more details.
Tyrion quickly became a favourite partly thanks to Dinklage, and then I read the books. The guy's a walking Crowning Moment Of Awesome/Funny and he's full of quotable sayings. And he beats up Joffrey Prickhead twice. Gotta love such a man!
Roose recently became a favourite as we got to see him from closer. He's fascinating. Wits like Tywin's, style, class, leeches, calm, soft voice... wears pink and nobody could ever call him girly. He could wear a (flayed) Hello Kitty signal and still be super creepy. And he's got those otherworldly eyes and eerie paleness. I always fall for this kind of look. No matter how evil he is, I'd do him.
Jorah: I love his shady past and failings. Always good to have a flawed character, plus he's a good counsellor and bodyguard. Also, unrequited love for Dany. Poor thing. (And then Iain Glen is just smoking hot.) I'm a big Dany/Jorah supporter, although I love to keep it unrequited. Hope he will be pardoned and gets the classic Redemption Equals Death.
2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why? Pycelle because he's a weak player of the Game, Ramsay because he's a Complete Monster and UnCat because she's bloody unnecessary.
Pycelle? Seriously, why isn't he killed off in book 2? His role is so minor and he's a loser.
Ramsay - can't tell why without spoilers, but I want his own dogs to eat him. What a sick SOB. He's like O'Brien from 1984, only ten times worse. He scares the shit out of me.
UnCat: so why exactly does she exist? It lessens the effect of the RW. Beric could've done all that Frey hanging instead. And I didn't like living Cat to begin with.
Of course I do hate Joffrey, Cersei, Freys, Gregor etc. but they're fun to read about.
3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why? Pre-ADWD runner-up: Dany kicking the astapori slaver's arse. I hate slavers and those bastards deserved it.
ADWD: all I will say is "Titus Andronicus homage". There, no spoiler. (How do I say without spoiler what I enjoy in it? The ingredients, the irony and the whole build-up. It's hilarious.)
4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
Well, pre-ADWD I was like: Dany as Queen, Tyrion as Hand, Varys still as spy master, Cersei killed by Jaime (who either died or married Brienne), Jon as a glorious, long-ruling LC who brings back the Watch's old glory, Sam as his Maester, Bran as Lord of Winterfell and Rickon as his heir, Arya as master FM. Sansa would kill Littlefinger (or Sandor does it) and become Lady of the Vale and/or Riverrun. Sandor kills UnGregor and either dies or marries Sansa (would be too happy for GRRM), Jorah sacrifices himself for Dany, Ser Alliser dies (preferably by Others), the Others almost take over but are defeated by dragons, one of the dragons dies, the remaining two breed. Euron kills some more relatives (hopefully Damphair too). UnCat is pwn'd. Barristan most likely dies heroically with sword in hand and goes to Westeros' equivalent of Valhalla. Ramsay gets some very nasty death after backstabbing his father. All male Freys die except Lord Walder who is left heirless and broken like he deserves. Loras lives and either becomes a monk or joins the "Mutilated Badass Club". Davos goes home to his remaining family. Stannis dies in battle or takes the black. Melisandre dies or loses her powers.
I expect an epilogue that shows what the remaining characters are doing years after the big finale.
A bit too happy... I'm sure GRRM will kill 3-4 sympathetic characters before the end.

Done. I've edited three times, decide or else be like that annoying Doran.
