All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description! .

I am a city girl through and through so the house would have to be in some major city, I can’t say which one since unfortunately I have only been abroad twice and I don’t think I can be sure I’d love it without having been there. But it should definitely be a place with cold and/or rainy weather because I cannot tolerate the heat at all. Oh and great public transport would be nice because I dislike driving.

The house itself would be spacious since I’ve lived in 5 houses so far and they were all pretty small so I need to spread out. I also love heights so I’m thinking a 2 store penthouse with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dining room, living room, entertainment room, kitchen, an attic and of course a huge library. Throw some secret passageways in there as well. As for decorating I like quality but I can get very sentimental too so I’d try to make it both modern and cosy. Big windows, a huge bed, comfortable furniture, paintings (and puzzles I’ve made) on the walls, a fireplace in the living room, white marble for the bathrooms hardwood floors everywhere else, different colours for each room but nothing too bright or garish...

Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!

Genies are notorious for being tricky so I’d spend a lot of time first making sure he can’t twist my words or find a loophole. Having said that I’m confident it would still backfire terribly but screw it I’m going to try anyway.

Now at first I would want something along the lines of world peace/everyone to be happy because I‘d feel bad if I were too selfish and only asked things for myself. However I don’t have much faith in humanity so I doubt it would last long or that it could be done in the first place. For that reason my wishes would be:

To have enough money to pay for all things in life. I relish comfort and money would allow me to do all the things I desired. And I was never greedy so I’m quite confident I’d end up being pretty generous.

Eternal life (maybe stay a certain age too). I would get to experience so many things and see everything the future would bring. And I know outliving your loved ones sounds really hard but at the same time it is too tempting so I would go for it. I would however make sure there was one way to die. Forever is a long time and I’m confident at some point I’d get bored/tired

A super power like teleportation or reading minds. If one of these could not be granted the alternative would be to just the set the genie free.

3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)

I don’t feel I have accomplished anything that I am insanely proud of yet. I have lived a pretty quiet life so far haha. Up until university I had my fair share of good grades&academic awards so I guess there’s that as well as acing the entrance exams and getting to my first choice department (even if it were in my second choice university) without actually studying too much.

4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.

Well, you can derive pleasure from most of the other things, knowledge could get you some of them, friendship&family can provide you with love; It’s all pretty much intertwined.

I suppose love, and not only the romantic variety, would come first. It’s true I might be a little detached but if I truly care about someone I will do anything for them. Knowledge would definitely be a close second.

I love reading about it but I fear adventure would be the least important. As much as I like a challenge taking risks is not really my thing (unless they are well calculated) and I am not suited for physical exertion at all.

5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.

I think this excerpt from The Perks of Being a Wallflower comes quite close to my beliefs/attitude.

”So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons and maybe we’ll never know most of them. But even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things, and we can try to feel okay about them.”

And concerning my values I’d say I always try to do the right thing but I do have my own sense of morality so it can get complicated. Idk idk I have many quotes and songs that I like but it’s difficult to find something that fits.

6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.

We’re an average family when it comes to income but my parents are complete opposites, one of them quite stingy and the other pretty spending so I ended up taking after both of them. Most of the time I’m frugal and whenever I feel I’ve gathered a significant amount of money then I go all out. I think my main problem is that I was spoiled as a child and now I find it hard to tell myself no sometimes.

Generally I’d say I manage quite well but since I have neither faced any difficulties nor am I financially independent yet so this is all merely an assessment. I do value financial security a lot, especially with the current state of economy. If truth be told I don’t care about being rich; it is not the money itself that appeals to me but the things it translates into. All I want is to be able to maintain a comfortable lifestyle without having to worry all the time

7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?

I don’t really have a particular talent so my hobbies are pretty ordinary. Reading is definitely one of my favourite things to do. Other things include watching movies/series/football, sleeping, and spending a lot of time on the internet. I also like puzzles, crosswords, board games (I’m a little boring if you couldn’t tell.) I enjoy cycling and volleyball but it has been some time since I did either of them. And going out with my friends either to a restaurant, for coffee or to the cinema is always a nice way to spend my time

8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.

Deep water. It’s completely irrational because I like the sea and can even swim a little but if my feet stop touching the bottom for more than a few minutes I panic and become convinced I’ll drown. I also go out of my way to avoid travelling by ship, all that water around makes me very uncomfortable.

Failure. I’m quite ambitious and I don’t take it well when I come up short. I am an only child and for a long time I was the only granddaughter so everyone was always fussing over me. Thus I sort of learned to expect myself to be better than who I am and realizing I don’t measure up scares me. Plus I hate looking like an idiot or giving satisfaction to anyone who expected me to disappoint. My pride is wounded easily I suppose.

Getting old. The whole process unnerves me and not just from a shallow point of view. Through no fault of your own your body and your mind at some point will fail. The idea that one day even walking might be difficult or losing mental agility and start forgetting is incredibly unsettling and I try not to think about it.

9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.

Best

1. Intelligence. I’m not a genius by any chance but I am quite smart. I'm the kid who never had to work hard in school and got straight As without even trying. (That did change when I got into university but a key factor in that might be that I don’t really like what I’m studying.) I have a vast general knowledge, some language skills, a good memory and I enjoy learning.

2. I’m usually objective and I try to treat everyone as fairly as I can. I love analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of something. I can easily see both sides to any argument. And because I see everything in shades of grey instead of black and white I find it difficult to take a side; I’m a middle road kind of person. I know it’s impossible to satisfy everyone yet I’m always searching for a third option.

3. I'm cautious. I’ve come to realize that I’m prone to impulsive decisions which lead to doing stupid stuff so I always try to think ahead and take extra care to cover all bases. Obviously sometimes this can be bad because it takes a while for me to spring into action but I just do not like to gamble with my safety or the safety of the people I care about.
.
.Worst:

1 . Laziness/Procrastination. You don’t want to know how many times I started this application before finally finishing it. But yeah, I’ll avoid anything that looks like hard work or is potentially unpleasant. I manage to fulfil a task but it’s usually at the last minute. Unless there’s someone breathing on my neck I’ll just let myself be lulled into a false sense of security and believe there is always enough time.

2. I’m socially inept. I think it comes a little from growing up in a very sheltered environment. It’s not that I’m shy –if you get me talking I won’t shut up- it’s that I don’t know how to talk to people. I get overwhelmed socially even with people who are my friends. I can’t hang out and just be average. I start wondering what’s normal and what’s weird so I either stay quiet or just smile at everything. I’m pretty sure half of the time I come off as cold/bitchy and the other half as naive/silly.

3. I can be incredibly stubborn. I will listen to you or even go so far as to admit you are right but in the end I’ll do what I want. If something enters my mind or makes an impression on me I find it very hard to let it go. I can put it aside for some time, I can forgive or compromise if there is no other choice, however I can never truly forget it.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?

Jon. He’s always been my favourite. There is something that draws me to him, I can’t explain it. He’s loyal, brave and struggling to do the right thing. There’s also the mystery surrounding his parentage which intrigues me. And even though I can see why some people say he is whiny and things just happened to him it never made me like him any less. I suppose my love for him is a tad irrational. I acknowledge his flaws yet in my eyes he can do no wrong.

Davos. My onion knight is flawless. Sometimes it feels as if he’s the only one with some common sense. He was a smuggler and yet he is one of the most moral people in these books. He’s also a simple man who didn’t let titles and power go over his head. I find it endearing how much he cares about his family striving to be a good father and a good husband. It is also admirable how he can be loyal to Stannis without abandoning his own beliefs. He will stand by him but if something is wrong he will not close his eyes and ignore it. He always does the best with what he is given and his honesty is extremely refreshing.

Bran. I adore this kid. He’s sweet and smart and incredibly courageous for someone so young. His legs were shattered along with his dreams but he found it in him to not give up. He went through so much yet didn’t shy away from his destiny. He made all the difficult choices (not trying to find protection amongst one of the Stark bannermen, letting Jon and everyone else think he is dead, starting on a cold and dangerous journey with no certain destination) and stood by them. When all roads seemed closed he found another path to “walk”. I can see why people find him boring but to me his arc is fascinating. Amidst all the war and political intrigue it is his chapters that give us a perspective on all the magical elements of the story which I find incredibly interesting.

2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?

Where do I start? There are so many horrible people in these books e.g. that crazy maniac Gregor, that little piece of shit Theon, Littlefinger and not going to lie, I’m starting to dislike Tyrion.

But for my top 3 I’d go with:

Ramsay Snow Bolton. Do I need to explain this? He’s absolutely terrifying; I swear he cannot be human.

How about another easy one? Walder Frey. And the rest of his evil murdering family.

That “evil scheming bitch” Cersei. I can’t stand her. At first I thought she’d be a great HBIC but in the end she proved to be paranoid and delusional. I understand her motives. I understand where she is coming from. I just do not believe there is any excuse for what she has done.

3. #1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?

Only one? Is that even possible? Hm, the Red Wedding was a powerful, heart-wrenching, omgwtf moment; Ned’s dream/recollection about the events in the Tower of Joy always gives me chills as does the scene where Bran and everyone else come out of the crypts to stand among the ruins of Winterfell. Moreover quite a few deaths have been extremely satisfying (i.e. I cheered) namely Joffrey, Tywin and Lysa. But honestly I am partial to the battle of the night’s watch against the wildlings and Jon’s subsequent raise to Lord Commander.

4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?

King Rickon tyfyt. Jokes aside even though GRRM is a big troll and loves to break our hearts I trust him, thus I will leave the ending to his capable hands. Speculating only serves to make me pull my hair out and in the end I’m never satisfied with what I have come up.

Hrmm, every time I come up with a house I run into a problem. Like, Tyrell = ambitious + generally beneficent but then you're not social. Stark = quiet/detached + stubborn but then you're a creature of comfort and ambition. I don't see Greyjoy. Your book section is very into well meaning good guys and very much not into destructive bad guys. Your tone doesn't remind me of the typical Martell or Lannister, but there are always exceptions. And then Targaryen and Tully offer for me the most compromise of various aspects and I think I'd err on the side of a quieter Targ if I went that way ...

Yeah I think I'll go with Targaryen, social ineptitude doesn't fit with the typical Targ charisma either but they have such a variety of personalities that you could probably find one that was different. I think Dany would have a long memory too (maybe less forgiving than you), you like the magical elements of the story, doing the right thing appeals to you, you're cosmopolitan, analytical, and I think wanting eternal life fits the general Targ grandeur. Oh and I feel Dany could relate to your wanting to spread your wings, so to speak, with a big house after living so long in small spaces. Like, metaphorically. Yeah.

I was feeling Targaryen from early on, so I'm pleased that Miss thought the same as me, although she doesn't seem quite as convinced as I do. ;-D For me, when someone talks about having eternal life and super powers along with Doing The Right Thing, that always seems very Targ to me, although it could be argued that Doing The Right Thing is a Stark trait ala Ned, as well.

I think I'm going to join the Targaryen trend; it's not a perfect fit, but I can't think of anything better. You make a couple of references to things coming easily to you--not having to study, feeling like you were spoiled as a kid--that together with laziness as your first flaw feel to me very Targaryen, or at least pre-Rebellion Targaryen. The desire for eternal life also feels Targaryen, what with their interest in magic regardless of its costs, as does the willingness to set the genie free. And hey, secret passageways! Secret passageways are cool and twisty--very Targaryen.

yy for Davos love. I adore him.

I'm going to say Targaryen too. You're a tough sort. I see bits of Stark and Lannister, Tyrell too, but the Starks don't live comfortably and the Lannisters aren't generous. I see the Tyrells as social and gregarious so I don't know if I'd put you there.

I think because they were the rulers for so long, the Targaryens have bits of al the houses, and they're incredibly powerful, can be generous, clever, mind their money... you'd make a good dragon!

It really does!

I see the Targaryen, and that was one of the houses I considered. I also thought Lannister early on, but Miss is right, the vibe doesn't feel lion-y. And your book answers feel more Tully/Stark, but that doesn't seem right either.

Tyrell seems like the best overall fit to me, actually. The strongest argument against it is that you don't feel socially adept, but I don't find that to be a showstopper :)

What a mixture you are! I like that you're not a straight forward sort and I've had to think a bit deeper than usual. I'd say that you're very Stark in your stubbornness and your desire for a cold climate, very Tarygagen in your imagination (wanting to set the genie free). However your love of Davos and Jon strikes me as a very Tully trait which alongside your desire to find a middle road reminds me of Catelyn. So Tully it is.

I don't think this will have much of an effect against the sea of dragon votes, but regardless, I'm going with Stark. I definitely see the Targaryen and am considering them even now, but I just can't shake the Stark feeling. Your level-headedness, your desire for a cold climate, your favourite characters . . . hell, I'd even say your social ineptitude is rather Stark since you base it off of growing up in a sheltered environment and the Starks are a bit off socially when compared to a lot of southern traditions. So while not a perfect fit, I think it'd work.

Uh, am I the only one who saw Tyrion popping up here and there in this app? Like, you value your intelligence, put love first, love to read, are prodigal and careful with your money at the same time... On the other hand the overall tone of the app (and the bad social skills) is way more understated than what one would associate with Tyrion or the Lannisters in general, and you like the honorable characters so I'll go with the targaryen consensus... well, the dragons aren't notorious for being understated, but thinking of Aemon and other historical Targs it's the next best thing I guess.
