All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
I prefer designer and opulent homes. Homes that have a decorator touch to them, think Architectural Digest. I read a lot of design magazines and love going to shows that have designers at them to get new ideas. Ideal home would be on the water, somewhere beautiful with gorgeous scenery. Preferably with all the seasons, winter to summer. Open your patio door and there is a view to die for, ect. Homes that are truly a work of art in and of themselves.
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
a. Money - it brings financial security so that you can concentrate on other things such as education, work or causes close to your heart. You don't have to worry about medical expenses or retirement. You can concentrate on things that mean something to you. Money doesn't buy happiness it buys security.
b. My family to be safe and cared for. Protected and secure. This also goes back to wish #1 if you have money it removes that uncertainty of the future.
c. Married to someone who loves me and whom I love. Someone who has similar goals and wants the same things. You will never find someone completely perfect but I want someone who can make me laugh, smile and share the same dreams, is culturally aware and would want to be in the same place as me mentally and emotionally in 20 years with a mutual respect.
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
Buying my own home, by myself with very little help from others. Took a lot of work but I did it. Next up is finish my Masters degree.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
This is actually really hard for me, but of that list money - because friends come and go, money is security. I've been broke before and I didn't like it. At all. Second most important to me is family. I'd have to try and slot that in with #1. But since my family keeps getting smaller, it's important to see them while I can.
Least would adventure, I am not an outdoor person. I prefer to be inside and read or go lay on the beach or listen to music at a jazz club.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
"They say it is better to be poor and happy than rich and miserable, but how about a compromise like moderately rich and just moody?" -Princess Diana
Extremes in any direction are not a good thing and sometimes compromise is necessary for the ends you want. So this is truly my favorite quote. Enough money to be comfortable and we all have our good and bad days.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
See above :)
It's very important. No matter what anyone says love does not make the world go round, money does. This is not to say I am a cynic when it comes to love. I have friends and family that are close to me but you have to be a realist. You need the security that money brings to free you up to accomplish other things in your life otherwise you work 14 hours a day and live in a studio apartment eating spaghetti every night.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Reading, studying, decorating, fashion, writing, listening to music and painting.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
a. Being out on the street when I am old. Self explanatory... getting older is hard enough being alone and broke is even worse.
b. Being completely alone. Not just a few days by yourself (I love me time) but losing everyone and every person close to me.
c. Losing my mind, my independence, losing what makes me 'me'. Not being able to take care of myself. Not being able to get in my car and go to Nordstrom to go shopping. Becoming totally dependant on someone else.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best:
1. Analytical - I can look at the bigger picture of any given scenario and see what the best course of action would be. I try not to get too caught up in emotional decisions because you always regret them later. Take time, think things through. If you have to log off and consider what the best course is then do it.
2. Flexible - not all things will got to plan and sometimes adjustments are needed mid stream. If you are set in your ways not only do you get sideswiped by the unforeseen you tend to get left behind when new ideas or thoughts come along.
3. Not a pushover - I am who I am, I know my self worth. I will help friends and family but I don't let people walk all over me.
Worse:
1. Not a pushover - see above. The downside with that is I don't let people walk all over me so they tend to get hurt. My friends call it 'the look'. I try not to hurt people's feelings but if they are being stupid or do not have my best interests at heart, well I can't help that :/
2. Sarcasm - if I am near someone who is being dumb on purpose or I just, for whatever reason do not like them, I can be a sarcastic. I am really working on that one. It is getting better though, I usually only say something 'witty' to friends now.
3. Zero tolerance for closed minds - this may not be bad for some people, I am not sure really. But I have zero tolerance for someone who is racist, homophobic, misogynistic to the point that I will not even engage them in a dialogue about it. I simply shut off and write them off as a non-person. I wish I could stop and try to work with them to change their minds but I can't. Anyone that has a closed mind becomes a non person. I am not talking about someone who is ill informed I am talking about full blown closed minded and hateful people.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
Ned - Dear God this man can break my heart. Poor Ned. Poor hard headed Ned! All the honor he had, that he stood behind the ideals he had.. and yet it all came shattering down around him. He is truly one of the only good characters in this whole saga. There are others that have the right ideas, but Ned did things for what he thought were the right reasons. Even towards the end when he betrayed everything he believed in he did it to save his daughters.
Cersei - here is a woman who is stuck in a situation where men rule all, own all and she is the best one to lead in many situations. Because she's a woman, she never has a true say over her future or life. In everything she did in Game of Thrones, her son ripped it away in 5 seconds and showed the entire kingdom she has no real power she's just a 'soft hearted' woman. Not true, but that's now the perception. Soft hearted is not how I would describe Cersei. Joffrey was so not the right person to rule.
Arya - stood up for herself, did not or will not accept that all she would be is a lady in charge of a home and lands giving birth to babies who would be knights and princes and making dinner plans. She took charge and is setting her own destiny.
2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
Joffrey - he's a jerk. Ned's death was not necessary it was cruel. And he was acting like a spoilt brat. He should not be king.
Theon - I have no idea why but he makes my skin crawl.
Viserys - the way he treated his sister was horrible. I do not care what his motivations were.
3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
The scenes with Arya and Syrio come to mind, how she is learning to 'dance'. I also love the scene with Cersei and Robert when they are discussing their marriage. In 10 mins their entire relationship is laid out on the table. That is really where I became a fan of Cersei and Mark & Lena's acting skills.
4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
Sansa as the younger queen and Sandor as her consort. The armies rallying behind Sansa and heading to King's Landing to overthrow the corruption. Put Sansa on the throne and have her rule with kindness and a just royal court. With Jaime Lannister as The Hand.

Re: Stark
Date: 2011-06-20 03:53 pm (UTC)As for Cersei, she is an amazing character and her arc the last while here is getting kind of scary. Jaime's reaction for her plea to help is understandable but I am legit worried about her now. (speaking of Jaime, he lost his hand :( *cries*
GRRM should be held for character abuse.

Date: 2011-06-20 03:55 pm (UTC)Yes, I've read Game of Thrones, Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords and Feast of Crows. I am waiting on Dance with Dragons now. I think you can tell when you are invested in a series and you spend several afternoons by the pool reading like crazy. I had to stop after the Red Wedding scene last week and take a break. I don't think I've ever sat in shock after reading a book before in my life. I thought Ned's scene was heartbreaking, I don't know how I am going to watch *that* scene. This series is amazing.

And yes, I adore Cersei! As I said above 'As for Cersei, she is an amazing character and her arc the last while here is getting kind of scary. Jaime's reaction for her plea to help is understandable but I am legit worried about her now.' Based on what I hearing on the new novel, I am wondering if she will be in it at all? And if that's the case I wonder when The Winds of Winter will come out.

You are such a Lannister. In the finest tradition, you're clever, independent, always thinking, value your intelligent, value your security and aren't going to let anyone tell you no.

(And after seeing all the other answers I'm gonna stick with my not-ordinary mind, you've got enough lion around already. LOL)
Also, sarcasm is not a bad thing for me. ;)

Date: 2011-06-21 02:44 am (UTC)And I have to say, I've put off watching GoT, which has been relatively easy as a non American, but I watched them through this week and I *adored* that scene with Robert and Cersei. I think it was one of my favourite things in the whole series.
Also reading over your application made me realise how much I want Jaime to be The Hand, mainly because it would be a goldmine for tasteless hand jokes admittedly, but still it would be perfect.
