All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
My goal is to move to London after I finish school. Since I'd like to be in London that rather limits housing options unless I come into a large amount of money and can afford a palace/castle/historic house. I looove old houses (as long as there are modern appliances!), so I would love to live somewhere with history. I need a library in my home, someday I'll have thousands of books and will need a place to keep them. London is my favorite city. It's perfect for the pop culture and history nerd that I am. Plus it doesn't matter that I don't know how to drive.
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
1.) An infinite supply of money.
2.) A time machine. Tudor England, here I come!
3.) A way for me to open books and get sucked into the story, rather like a time machine. That way I could
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
Well, I got into the school I wanted. I wasn't sure if I was going to. I definitely wouldn't be able to now, they've raised their standards because they want more out of state kids and are accepting less in state. So it's mostly luck. So far I'm on a really good track to get where I want. I volunteer regularly at a museum since I'm applying to grad school in the fall for a museum studies program. I'm also studying abroad this fall in England. So I'm just proud that I've been able to accomplish these things since I was in a really bad place last year and didn't feel like I was ever going to go anywhere.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
Knowledge is probably the most important. I'm a history major and a Latin minor, if that explains anything. :D Not exactly a useful degree. I plan on going to grad school though for museum studies. There is so much that can be learned from the past and I want to work to both preserve it and present it to the general public.
Family is probably least important tbh. I dislike the idea that just because I share someone's blood I'm supposed to be a part of their life. I often see people complaining about family and they'll say something like "They're really racist but I still have to love them because they're my aunt/brother/uncle, etc." And I don't get that. If they're a racist piece of shit don't talk to them and don't guilt yourself into having to care about them. To me, my friends are family.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
This is the worst question of all time tbh. I can't think of a single thing. Mostly because I would probably quote something stupid because I can never take things like this seriously. (That should tell you something about me. I'm very laid-back and am not very serious most of the time.) So questions like this just make me lol and then my brain goes blank when I try to think of something.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
I get a certain amount of money every quarter from my dad to pay for my room and board. It's supposed to be just for food but most of it goes into other stuff like books and entertainment. Money and financial security is incredibly important to me. The thought of going into debt scares me, and my goal is to complete my master's without ever taking out a loan or going into debt of any kind. My dad is quite well off but he is an ass and doesn't use the money for anything. He only gives me what is required by the divorce agreement. My mom works two jobs with crap pay and provides me with anything I need. We're still better off than a lot of people but since the divorce the thought of financial insecurity terrifies me. I do have a lot of savings though, so I shouldn't worry so much.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
I love to read and collect books in general. I probably have close to a thousand now, but there are hundreds of those that I haven't read. It's a bit of problem tbh. My favorite genre is fantasy, and my favorite series are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, ASOIAF, Kushiel's Legacy, Farseer and Narnia. I love history, especially the Tudors and have many books on the subject. Do I need eight different biographies of Henry VIII? Probably not, but I do anyways.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
1.) Slugs. I used to live on this hill and have to walk to school. When it rained there would be slugs everywhere and I had to be super careful that I didn't step on them. I'm terrified of stepping on one and then feeling it squish beneath my foot. Ugh. No. They are the worst.
2.) The thought of being in poverty terrifies me, as I explained above. (I'm sorry if I sound like a selfish bitch, I realize there are probably people in this community who aren't well off and that this sounds like #middleclasswhitegirlproblems.)
3.) Failing in my goals. I have very specific goals set for the next few years and the thought of not accomplishing them scares me, especially since I don't really have a back-up plan.
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
1.) I'm really passionate about the things I love. When I like something, I just don't like it, I go into full obsession mode. ASOIAF is my obsession at the moment (HP and LOTR being the main two of my life). I like having obsessions though. I feel like being a nerd is a good thing because we are enthusiastic about life and just get really excited about things most people wouldn't care about. The average person might go "Oh, the new HP is out soon, I'll have to see it sometime." This is me: "OMG, THE NEW HARRY POTTER FILM COMES OUT IN # DAYS. WE NEED TO START PLANNING. HOW MANY HOURS SHOULD WE SHOW UP AHEAD OF TIME? WHOSE BRINGING THE DVDS? WE NEED A LOT OF FOOD, LETS GO TO TARGET FIRST. SHIT, I NEED TO GO TO HOT TOPIC TO GET A SHIRT. OOOMMMMMGGGGG IT'S ALMOST ENDING. *SOBS*"
2.) I'm really motivated. Unfortunately this is offset by my laziness. But if I really want something I will work until I get it and injure anyone who gets in my way.
3.) I'm honest. I'm not afraid to say if I don't like something or someone. I just feel like that means when I do say something nice you know I actually mean it.
1.) Lazy. I am so so lazy. I don't put as much effort as I know I could into my classes but since I get along just fine anyways I don't really care. Sometimes there are movies, concerts, and other events that I'd like to go to but that requires too much effort. (This is also because I hate hate hate the Seattle bus system and avoid using it unless absolutely necessary.)
2.) Misplaced priorities (lack of empathy). I don't feel bad about things that most people do. Unless something directly affects me I don't really have any feelings on it either way. When I see footage of natural disasters or some other tragedy I usually go "oh" and then go about my day. On the other hand, seeing the new Harry Potter trailer on ABC Family last weekend reduced me to a weeping mess. Dead babies don't upset me. But animals dying is heartbreaking.
3.) Hypocrite. I am a huge hypocrite but I've come to the point where I've accepted it and just don't care. Whenever I have hypocritical thoughts instead of trying to reconcile them I just accept that these are my feelings about something and I'm not going to bother trying to make sense of them.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
1. Tyrion. I'm always drawn to characters with a good sense of humor, and Tyrion's is wicked. I enjoy viewing Westeros through his eyes. He can be rather frightening when he's angry, as Tywin or Shae could probably tell you, but he's also very kind when it comes to people who deserve it like Sansa or Bran.
2.) Asha. Her sense of humor is amazing, when she trolls Theon on their first meeting is one of my favorite scenes. I think she's also an easy character to sympathize with. She's more competent than her brother and other men and just badass in general but because of her sex she has very little chance of ever taking the Iron Islands.
3.) Davos. Common sense. He has it. And it's quite refreshing. He's extremely loyal to Stannis and has his own type of honor but not in the extreme like Ned. He's one of the few characters who I feel I can say is 'good'. If it wasn't for the war he would be happy to serve his lord while raising his boys and growing old with his wife.
2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
1.) Dany. I loathe her. First of all, she is devoid of personality and utterly boring. But what really bothers me is her sense of entitlement. She would be a terrible ruler of Westeros and the idea that it's 'hers' annoys me to no end. She has almost no memory of the place and knows nothing of the culture, people or the land. Westeros doesn't care about her ass, they've moved on. And with all the fighting going on now, she thinks it's a good idea to swoop in with some dragons and do even more damage? I'm sure everyone will love that. And then if she does take the throne, what's the point? She can't have children, the line will end with her death and more than likely civil war will break out again. So that's why I think she's a stupid bitch and should drop dead.
2.) Ygritte. She doesn't do anything for me besides annoy me. She's obnoxious and not likable in any way. And if I ever read the words 'You know nothing, Jon Snow' again I might cry.
3.) Joffrey. For obvious reasons I would think.
3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
It's hard to say. I'm rereading the series right now but I'm only on CoK and it's been about four years. My memory of the series is terrible. And I mean really, really terrible. I might as well have never read them in the first place. Only very major events stand out in my mind. Having said that, Joffrey's death was immensely satisfying.
4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
I want everyone to die except for Rickon and Lancel. They venture beyond the Wall where they ride woolly mammoths and chill for the rest of their days.
There's no one who I really want to win the Iron Throne, as long as it's not Dany. And I figure most of my favorite characters will be dead by the end. Except for Rickon because GRRM seems to have forgotten about him. And Lancel is the HBIC. So I want them to live and laugh at everyone else who died.
