All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.

It would be on a beach. Not one of those sun always shining, umbrella drinks everywhere and bright colors running past chasing beach balls. It would be just up the path from a rocky beach, full of jagged cliffs where the waves would crash day and night and people would tell stories about lost at sea sailors and their loves who would wait each day for them to sail home again. The town itself would be small but not too small, just enough of a reminder of where I came from but not enough to feel like I never left, never travelled or explored enough of the world to call a piece of it my own.

The back of the house opens to the bay, a small beaten path that grows a little bigger with every trip taken. The porch would encircle the entire house, glass doors would open up in the back letting in the wind from the bay just below, and fill the house with a cool breeze. The entire back wall would be large panel windows and lofty curtains, not as many as I would like because at night I know I would rather be able to keep myself tucked away safe versus lack of privacy. Wood floors would fill the down stairs and in the center would be a wide double staircase leading up to the loft second floor. The loft upstairs would be my bedroom, complete with a Although the house wouldn't be that big, the space is fully open minus the bathroom, which is carefully tucked away in a corner of the upstairs with a smaller window.

Also a ghostbuster’s pole for a quick get away.

2. Imagine you're given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!

A) More time.

Not necessarily asking for the ability to time travel but to have more time right now, to be able to stretch out a moment to last a lifetime or not as long as that. It’s purely a selfish reason, I want more time people in my life who are older than me and might not be there but especially my horse. She’s getting up there in years and I can’t imagine my life without her, she’s been with me for half my life. I never know when might be the last day I spend with her and I’d like to have the ability to stretch that out, to keep her with me without medical advancements that are just inhumane.

B) The ability to excel in a particular skill.

Not quite sure what that skill would be that’s why I left that open ended but I’d like to be able to excel at whatever I choose. Not just be good or even great at times, I would want to be perfect if my life depended on it every time.

C) A happy ending.

The end all, game changer decision that would be my first and final wish, I’d want a happy ending. The journey to get there could be full of bumps and twists, broken hearts and broken bones but in the end I’d like to be happy.

3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)

Graduating: Possibly one of the hardest accomplishments I was able to achieve and be proud of finishing. It took me a bit longer than is preferred, taking an extra year because I started out as a bit of a slacker, thinking myself better than the community college I was attending at the time. So I took that feeling and applied myself to a private school that was out of my league, money, scholarly, and knowledge wise. The day I walked across the stage to get my pin and diploma was the happiest and scariest day of my life, I pushed myself and completed college but then I thought, where do I go from here? My greatest accomplishment left me with the biggest question that I am still trying to answer.

4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.

Family: My dad and my sister are the most important people in my life. Without them I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Without their guidance or silly jokes, our fights or unexpected hugs, I wouldn’t be the same person or have the values and sense of loyalty that I strive to have. You mess with my family and you have to answer to me, I do forgive but I never forget when it comes to my family.

Money: As important money is in a general sense for food and clothes and gas, when it comes down to what is important to me on a personal lever money would be at the bottom. Money can’t buy you happiness or friends or family, only try to fill the void that is in your life when all you surround yourself in is money. I’ve never been one who’s had things given to them. I’ve worked since I was 15 and put myself through college. I find happiness and love, pleasure and adventure, friends and family without being rich with money.

5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.

“it's all in how you mix the two
and it starts just where the light exists
it's a feeling that you can not miss
and it burns a hole through everyone that feels it”

To me this song and more specifically this passage relates to me and my life. Where I want to find myself being close to someone but being a totally different person on the inside and no matter how hard I try to share my ideas and passions there’s still this line in the sand.

I’m divided down the middle and sometimes I feel lost as a person, lost as to what my place is and what I want to do with my life. And the other part of me that strives for something more, the part that won’t take stationary as a plan of action with my life, and that part is the one that wishes to find someone on that same level. Someone to share my ambitions with and find that there’s is the same.

I’m still trying to find meaning in my life and this passage really embraces that.

6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.

I went into some detail above about how important it is to me and as much as I’d like to financially secure in life, it’s not my main focus or drive in life.

I do save from every paycheck, whether it’s a small amount or large I make sure to put something in the bank. However on the other hand, I’m an impulse buyer and when I see something I’d really like, I buy first and regret later, saving more money to make up for the shiny present I bought myself.

Basically I’d like to be able to cover my bills at all times even if that means I’m broke to any extra fluff, I’d like to be secure enough to know that I have what I need to live without an exorbitant amount of stress.

7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?

Horseback Riding/Barrel Racing is a hobby of mine that I have kept up for about half my life so far. I used to race competitively but in the past few years it has been less competition oriented riding and more just for fun trail riding and training. My barrel horse has been retired and I spend most of my time with my other horse, working and training her. She was put out to pasture two years ago as a broodmare but after we sold the colt, I put her back in the round pen and get her back into racing shape. Maybe one day we’ll go back to competition but until then I love being able to ride her.

I also spend a lot of time with my Photography. Ever since high school I’ve had an interest and spent about a year to save up for my own camera. I’m rarely out of the house without a camera in hand even if I’m going to the office. I like having it with me so if anything catches my eye I can photograph it. Both film and digital photography are hobbies of mine even though I prefer film, I don’t have access to a dark room and have since moved my stuff over to digital so I’m able to print off the pictures on my own.

8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.

Failing: I am legitimately afraid of failure. I’ve faced it and have failed before on a smaller scale like a test but it’s the worst feeling in the world to think what would happen if I failed something that involved a life or someone’s future or even my own future. There’s a lot of pressure to not fail in life but what happens if you do?

Being forgotten: To me there is a difference between being famous and being remembered, they’re not the same and I just want to be remembered. To not die without a name or someone know who I was while I was alive, to make a difference to someone.

Small spaces: I’m not diagnosed claustrophobic but I still panic and can’t handle small spaces, tunnels, or even driving down levels in a parking garage. My heart leaps to my throat and I panic, unable to breathe when I’m trapped. It’s like being buried alive or drowning with no surface in sight but even easier to find yourself being stuck in these situations.

9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.

Best: Self- expressive, cheerful and optimistic kind of all lump together as a part of my personality. I can have trouble finding the right words to write or to say to express myself but I don’t have that problem when it comes to my personality or thinking. I find that I can express myself pretty easily as I can with a smile or as I’ve been told ‘I have a funny air about me’ that it just kind of radiates off me.

Best: Independent because I crave the experiences one can gain through exploration of the world. For as long as I can remember I’ve dreamed to travel the world and have been saving up to do just that. It comes from growing up independent, responsible for myself after my parents divorce. I got my hardship licence at 15 to be able to drive myself to school, got a job shortly thereafter, and have been paying my bills ever since then. I depend on myself to get by.

Best: Kind, I’d like to think one of my best features is just being a good person to those around me. Golden rule forever ingrained in my mind as I’ve been on the bad side of that many times before and don’t want to be that person who does it to others. It can’t hurt to help and be nice to people.

Worst: Very changeable mind, crave a variety of distractions but then I take on more than I can handle and more than once I’ll drop what I’m doing instead of completing it if it doesn’t make me happy. Of course I’ll change back and after dropping some stress I’ll pick up new things and end up back where I was before.

Worst: Evasive/indecisive, I have the hardest time to make even the smallest of decisions because I either don’t want to make that decision or I just find that I don’t have an opinion either which way. Whether it comes down to what to eat for dinner one night to deciding my major at college, it either takes me forever to figure it out or I look to someone else to make the decision.

Worst: Only child complex even though I’m not an only child, this I find is the only downside to being independent because when I’m put in a situation with my sister who was raised much differently my temper can lash out over the silliest things like dishes and food and coming into my room. She grew up much more sheltered, living with her mother versus me being raised by our father so while I’m supposed to let the little things go because she doesn’t know better I feel like she knows exactly what she’s doing and doesn’t care. It tears at me and then I find myself hoarding or consciously moving things so they are left alone by her.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?

There’s so many that I like and dislike and find myself varying on them as I continue to read but there’s been at least 2 character who I have liked as my favorites since the beginning;

Jon and Ghost: I’m putting them together because it’s them as a duo that really make them my favorite characters. Jon grew so much in the first book to becoming just about my favorite character but I don’t think he could have done that without Ghost by his side and definitely some of my favorite moments from the first book were between these two that’s why I put them here. Both Jon and Ghost’s loyalty is probably one of the first things that stood out for me from them and the connection they have, always watchful.

And at this moment?

Ser Jorah, I know he’s a minor character with future inclination of treachery towards Dany, I feel like without him she wouldn’t have become the woman she is at the end of the first book and onwards. His counsel and steadfast loyalty to her despite everything he’s done and seen around them. He even lets her see the truth about her brother on her own instead of telling her to see it, he shapes and helps her realize it on her own. He pushes her to be stronger with helping words but not enough to seem manipulating.

2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?

Joffrey: Seriously the death of Lady? Wrong but then how he treats Sansa? Asking her beg for her father’s life and still having him executed, he has no redeeming qualities in my eyes.

Kahl Drogo: I know it’s his people’s custom and I know that Dany grew to love and cherish him but I just never warmed up to him. I couldn’t get past the beginning on their ‘relationship’ and even as they grew closer and supposedly became more like partners he wouldn’t listen to her when it counted most and it resulted in his death because it itched? And he drank wine? I didn’t feel like he really cared for her to let the little things like this be ignored versus letting her find her voice in the larger things.

Gregor Clegane: Killed his horse, killed Aegon who was only a child, and then raped and killed Elia, his mother. And that’s just a couple of the things he’s done that I know of.

3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?

So far my favorite moment of ASOIAF would be the end of the first book, the entire scene was just creepy and gross but also amazing and powerful. It really showed Dany’s transformation over the entire book in such a short scene. The eating of the horse’s heart earlier was only foreshadowing to the strength and determination that she had inside her and when she walked into the flames you knew she’d be strong enough to do it but still, caught you off guard. And then when the eggs hatched I was just ecstatic because I had been wanting that to happen since the wedding although I could have done without the suckling dragon.

Although from the show so far? I would have to say the Starks finding and claiming each of the direwolves for a Stark as my favorite moment. That was the moment that pushed me to read and finish the first book.

4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?

There would be a happy ending or at least one where karma strikes everyone who deserves it. To be honest I haven’t read all the books so I’m unsure as to how it all ends but after reading and watching the show I can come to believe that it won’t end up that way.

STARK

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to go with Lannister.

I had a few Tyrellish thoughts, but the idea that you haven't found a focus yet seems very Jamie Lannister to me, the fear of failure and being forgotten both Tyrion and Tywin, even a little Cersei. You counted both money and family as your favourite things and that just seems full of Lannister to me. Those are their big two as well.

Re: STARK

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
and I botched my reasoning a little but I'm sticking with Lannister.

Also...this is a very bookish community. It's rife with spoilers, LOTS of them, and you won't really be able to sort new people until you've read at least book three.

[identity profile] stoopid-silly.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You are a total targaryen to me! It's the independence and wanting to be remembered and then the kindness mixed with a bit of a temper.

TYRELL

[identity profile] stoopid-silly.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
oops forgot my house!

Lannister

[identity profile] deeplyunhip.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I see Tyrell and Targaryen here, but I think the way you describe yourself coming off as amusing and cheerful points more towards the flowers. Tyrell.

And agh, please read as much as you can before joining! There is basically no concern for spoilers in any of our communities, so I'm not sure how much of this place you'd actually be able to enjoy.

Targaryen

[identity profile] lizbeth-mairead.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I was going to say Lannister, but I actually see more Targaryen in your answers, especially in your best traits and selected passage/song lyrics.

Stark

[identity profile] minviendha.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm-m. I'm having a really hard time with this one, which may be because I'm super rusty on the sorting. But augh. I thought Stark for a while, and then I thought Martell, and neither of them really makes me happy.

I think I'll settle on Tyrell for your best and worst qualities, though. You have the Tyrell sunny temperament, but the only child complex, as you describe it, and the changeable mind, make me think of Tyrell more than anything else.

Stark

[identity profile] esc-key.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking total Martell.

Lannister

[identity profile] embossedsilver.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking Martell. The way you mention never forgetting when it comes to your family, and having a very changeable mind seems very Oberyn-like.

Tully

[identity profile] loveweasleys04.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Targaryen here. There is sort of a dreaminess/romantic vibe to this app that makes me think of Stark, but I also see a lot of Rhaegar especially in your quote. So yeah to the dragon house for you!

Targaryen

[identity profile] melissagrey.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
You're definitely a dragon so I'm going to say Targaryen

Tyrell

Targaryen for me, too, although I did also consider Tyrell.

As has been mentioned upthread, these communities are brimming with unmarked spoilers for all four books so I hope you catch up on the reading quickly and/or don't mind spoilers.

You're difficult to place, but I'll go with Targaryen.

Tully

[identity profile] moryssa.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I started out thinking Greyjoy, just because of your description of the house on the stormy cliff over the ocean... then leaned toward Lannister for a bit because of your wishes... and then I began seeing the Targaryen, and it just got stronger and stronger. You remind me a lot of Dany in a lot of ways. You long for instant perfection, but your greatest accomplishment is something that you achieved through hard work and perseverance. The restlessness that makes you want to travel, but have a home to come back to... the fear of failure and of being forgotten... the loyalty to family... all just feeds back into that Targaryen vibe to me.

Oh... and this:
I’m divided down the middle and sometimes I feel lost as a person, lost as to what my place is and what I want to do with my life. And the other part of me that strives for something more, the part that won’t take stationary as a plan of action with my life...?

So very much Dany!

Tully

[identity profile] just-a-dram.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm finding you hard to sort...perhaps because you don't seem all that familiar with the books. I would rather you waited to be sorted, because I think you're probably going to be spoiled and have a difficult time sorting people. But, I'll say Targaryen.

Lannister

[identity profile] firebluespinel.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
You could fit well in a few different houses, for sure, but I think Targaryen works best for me.

Lannister

[identity profile] rowena742.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Targaryen, for pretty much the exact same reasons [livejournal.com profile] moryssa stated.

Tyrell

[identity profile] yunaleska.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm getting a lot of different vibes from this, so I'm going to pick Targaryen because I find them such a powerful house that enbodies many personalities, but all are powerful.

Stark

[identity profile] tasmin-dvelnahr.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
While you say you haven't read all the books, it is clear that you have read at least the first and I think a good portion of the second (to be honest, they all run together for me as one giant book until AFFC if only because I waited years for it). Although I should go with precedence and no vote you as I did the other two who stated they hadn't read the books, I am going to go with Targaryen with a more than a little Stark.

Stark

[identity profile] matitablu.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I say Targaryen by virtue of strong Dany vibes and a mixture of intensisty and introspection, with shades of Lannister and possibly Greyjoy here and there. I'm voting you because you seem to have a good grasp on the story already, but please read fast :) Not only the story gets better past the first book, but the way this comm works, with the sorting and everything, it really is better to be familiar with the whole saga and the various great houses that are introduced along the way.

tyrell

[identity profile] cyshobbitlass.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna say tyrell because you remind of Loras but please read quickly for several reasons. A)this community is filled with spoilers for one of the most spoiler heavy series' out there, b)frankly, you aren't gonna be able to sort properly. Several of our options are for houses that expanded upon in later books or don't even show up till then c) your app was detailed so your sorting is probably gonna be correct but since you aren't able to answer the book questions properly (all the characters change) it is hard to say.

Stark

[identity profile] ice-elf.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyrell - I think I should have said no vote as I have with the others who haven't read the books, but it's clear that you've at least got to the end of book one and are someway through 2. I'd advise you to hurry with the books though.

Martell

[identity profile] lady-theta.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I sense both Lannister (from your romantic nature) and Greyjoy (from your independence) but for some odd reason you seem a lot like Sansa, so I'm going with Stark.

Stark

Targaryen

Lannister

[identity profile] tantdetentation.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Changeable, determined but directionless, afraid of failure, and have an only child complex... hmmm. That reminds me of most of the more interesting characters in the book. I wavered between Greyjoy and Targaryen and landed on the Dragons.

Stark

[identity profile] wandaxmaximoff.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, but I feel as though I have to say No Vote here. It'd be pretty hard for you to sort others if you've not come across all the houses yet, and really you don't want to be spoiled. but please come back once you've read all the books, and I'll happily sort you then.

Targaryen

[identity profile] guad.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Martell

Lannister

[identity profile] ladynyks.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm getting a mature sort of a Targ maybe, making me want to lean the Lannister way from some angles. Casterly Rock is near the shores as well from what I recall, so it's not just Greyjoy there. I see Tyrion in question 3, and maybe some Night's Watch figures. Forgive but not forget could be Lannister, but also some other house, Tullys maybe. No to the money other than as whatever you said negates some Lannister, I guess.

It is difficult to sort you though, the song, failing and being forgotten making me think the mature Targaryen again. Small spaces versus open skies likewise, though there were still hints of Lannister in other things. Just not the crowing of their own excellence sorts, Kevan with his acceptance of his role or whatever maybe, but Kevan has no desire like that to be remembered, I imagine, through his acceptance of his role.

Targaryen. Independent, travel, changeable mind, temper. There are however spoilers for everything even in the weekly applications alone, so maybe wait a while before joining, if getting in.
