All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!. My ideal home would be a flat in a city like London. I love the city life, the hustle and bustle and the energy that a city has. I would want the city that I lived in to be modern, with plenty of young people and new industry and ideas, but also have a historical sense as well. I love old buildings and architecture and the feeling you get when you are standing in a place that has been occupied for hundreds of years. I also love learning about cultures and meeting new people, and the city would let me do both. I am also a public transportation nerd, and would need the place I live to have a good system for getting people around. My city would have to be somewhere with all four seasons, because as much as winter can bother me, there is nothing better than getting through it and getting back to spring.
My flat would be would pretty open, with hardwood floors, and a big window with a nice view. I would love to have a great kitchen even though I fail as a cook, and I would have a bar for hanging out with friends and a table for meals. My own room wouldn't need to be huge, just a bed and a decent sized closet and I'm all set. My living room would have a nice flat screen tv on one wall, opposite a big leather sofa, and there would be huge bookcases on the other two walls because I love collecting books. And while I love the bustle of the city I think I would choose a flat in an area more secluded from the constant traffic, where you still have your own little community.

2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
This is really tough for me because I am not the type of person who believes in wishes, so its not something I ever really consider...
But if it were possible my first wish would be an easy one for me, the health of my family. I have a younger sister who has been chronically ill for the past 7 years and its really been heartbreaking to see her not get to live as children/young adults should be able to. So for me to be able to make her better would be a simple choice to make.
My second choice would be to have some sort of special talent. Growing up I always dreamed of being a professional athlete (usually a basketball player), but I never had the dedication or the skill to actually succeed at it. I don't think I would want to be a pro athlete for the fame involved with it, after all female athletes are not hugely famous anyways, I would just want to be able make my career doing what I loved and playing a the game I love. So I guess I would wish for the skill to be able to make it as a pro, the rest I would want to do myself.
My final wish...hmmmm... well I guess I would have to go with one of the cheesy sounding make the world a better place wishes here. My wish would be that the world would go blind to hate and indifference and just make everyone see everyone around them as a human being, worthy of their dignity and respect, no matter where they are from, how they live their life, or anything else that might make them 'different'. I hate how people treat other people and don't care about other people, so for the world to go blind to that and just see everyone as an equal would be amazing.

3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
My biggest accomplishment, to date, is getting through college and graduating next month (knock on wood lol). I see this as the end of a certain period of my life that I have adored and had an amazing time during, and I am very proud of everything that I have done during that time. At first I struggled a bit with homesickness and actually contemplated dropping out when my grades were not as good as I wanted them to be. However, I did make some amazing friends who convinced me to stick it out and I am forever grateful to them for that, because since those first few months its been amazing. I have learned so much about the world around me and about myself, had so many crazy, wonderful, heartbreaking experiences that have made me who I am today.

4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
It took me a really long time to think about this because I feel like some of these are entwined with others. I would have to choose Friendship as the most important to me. Friendship is certainly about love, i don't think its possible to be a true friend with someone unless you love them. But it is also about more than love, its about the experience of getting to know someone, its about disagreeing and having arguments that make your relationship even stronger, simply loving someone does not make a good friendship. The people in my family that I love I consider to myself to be friends with, and I consider my sister to be one of my best friends. However, there are other members of my family that I do not get along with at all, so it would be impossible for me to choose the whole group as more important than my friends who are not my family. Adventure is something that I really love, but it really is much more fun to go on an adventure with friends than it is on your own.
Least important to me would have to be money, even though I feel like that is a cop out because I have never been without having enough money to live a decent life. While I might want money and feel like I need money, it is the easiest for me to say I would give up, so I guess that would make it least important.

5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live"
I am really not a quote person, so this was tough but this is one quote that has really stuck with me since I read it all those years ago. I think growing up sometimes I spent too much time wishing for things and just expecting things to happen because I just had this rose-tinted view of the world, so this quote has always just been a reminder to just live my life...

6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
I consider myself to be be rather good at managing money, I have been able to hold a regular job so that has definitely helped, but I am not a big spender for the most part. I only pay out for expensive items if its been something I have been wanting for a long time and that I have done my research on. There are times when I splurge and go on mini spending sprees, but they still are not very large amounts of money and usually are on items like clothes. I am however the type of person who considers paying money to go places, whether it be travelling or going to a sporting event/concert totally worth it. I think physical experiences are worth spending more money on than objects you will eventually throw away. Still would not pay a lot of money, but if it were a reasonable amount I would pay out.
Financial security is becoming a bigger and bigger deal to me as I get nearer to graduating and having to make a life for myself. I want to be able to live on my own and not depend on my parents, but I also recognize that saving money by staying with them for the next couple years while I pay off student loans might be the better thing to do. I guess this would suggest that I value financial security more than I value taking the risk of going out on my own and hoping for the best.

7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Sports- I love watching sports and I love playing sports. Playing sports I find exhilarating, I love the competitiveness of it all and the sense of accomplishment it can leave you with. I love to watch sports on tv, the thrill of watching something live just lures me in because of the fact you have no idea what is going to happen. On any day a team can beat anyone else and you can witness a game winning shot/goal/touchdown/etc that becomes an iconic moment. Watching your favorite sports team live has got to be one of the best feelings in the world. You just feel like you are surrounded by thousands of people who for at least the time the game goes on, want the exact same thing you do. Its just an amazing sense of community and togetherness.

Reading/Watching tv- I love a good story. I love the emotional connections you make with characters, and the thrill of a good cliffhanger and the shock of a great twist. My favorites are books/shows that have a "heart", that make you just feel something when you are watching/reading them, even if it just the simplest scene.

Travelling- Exploring new places is such a thrill and it is something I really enjoy. The excitement of not knowing what you are going to see next or the sense of awe you get when you see something you have read about and seen pictures of for as long as you remember is really incredible.

8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Death. I tell myself all the time that if I were to die today I could die happy because of all I have been able to do while I have been in the world, but its a lie. Its not even that I still have more I want to do with my life, its just that I don't want it to end because of the unknown that comes after. I was raised as a religious person who believes in heaven and a life after death, but as I have grown up I have begun to doubt if there is anything after death. I think that is what scares me the most, that you simply are no more.

Heights. I am terrified of heights, I don't even know how to explain the fear unless you have felt it yourself.

Being Alone. I really love all of my friends and to be without them on my own would be miserable. I have felt loneliness before and is something that I never want to experience again. That empty feeling you get in your stomach is just awful and it feels like the world is just so small.

9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
Best
I consider myself to be a very loyal friend and most of this is because I value loyalty so much in my friends. I mentioned before how growing up I had a sick younger sister, and watching her friends slowly melt away because they had just given up on being her friend really pissed me off. That was not how a friend should be treated, you should be there through the good times and the bad, no matter what. So that is what I try to do.

I am a very passionate person. If there is something that I like, I will obsess over it and learn everything there is to know about it because I want to be an expert. If I become inspired to work on some cause then I will work my ass of on it and do it to the best of my ability. My passion can be expressed in many different ways, for instance I am in love with the soccer team that I follow, and I will wake up ridiculously early after long nights out, skip classes, etc in order to watch them. Maybe it makes me unreasonable, but if I truly love something that passion is just about unstoppable. I think my passion also goes along with my loyalty, because being loyal is something I am extremely passionate about.

I would also consider myself an independent person. I like to make my own mind up about things without catering to someone else's opinion. I enjoy my freedom of being able to go where I want, when I want. I don't care if I have to do something by myself, if I want to do something that much I will do it on my own. I want to live my own life free of having to live up to someone else's expectations of what my life should be.

Worst
I am really lazy about some things. Basically I am either hugely passionate about something, or I don't care enough to get worked up over it. This is just a really bad habit for me because it has made me a horrible procrastinator. I have no problem just laying in bed and doing nothing for a day, and sometimes I wish I would actually want to do more, but I just don't at times. Maybe everyone is like that, but I feel like I have more of those days than I should.

I am also a shy person, especially when I am just getting to know someone. Sometimes I feel like I miss opportunities for making new friends because I am just too shy to introduce myself and get involved in a conversation. I hate standing up in front of a crowd and talking in public, its just a really scary thing for me that I wish I was okay with.

I am really stubborn, which I think can get on people's nerves because sometimes I won't agree with someone even I know I am wrong. I am not stubborn over everything, but I think there are too many things that don't matter that I am stubborn about.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
1. Jaime- It seems strange that my favorite character in the series is someone who I disliked in book 1, but thats how it is with Jaime. My main reason for loving Jaime is just that I think he is an amazingly written character. He has such depth and it feels like we keep learning more and more about who is. Plus we get to see how he is changes after losing his hand, and character development is one of my favorite things in novels. I think he gets some of the best lines of the series, and I love how hilarious and bad ass he can be. I also think that he is a 'good person', despite the fact he has done some horrible things and even though he might not think so himself and pretty much everyone in Westeros would agree with him. I love that he is one of the few male characters in the books that actually treats women fairly decently, and I adore his relationship with Brienne.

2. Brienne- At times her naivety frustrates me, but I think mainly that is because I like her so much and I hate seeing her hurt when things are not how she thinks the ought to be. And that is pretty much the only bad thing I can say about Brienne. She is pretty much as close to a hero as there is, and I it both kills me and makes me love her more when she goes through the suffering of having everyone judge her because of what she looks like. She puts up with so much, and I just love how strong she is inside to deal with it all, even though we learn it does really hurt her. Plus her loyalty to the oaths she takes make me admire her a lot as well. And I also love that she is able to see Jaime for who he really is as well, she can get past preconceptions.

3. Robb- I loved Robb, his death shook me up the most out of all the character deaths in the series, not for the shock, just because of how much I liked him. Some of my appreciation for him I think comes from the fact we are both the oldest children, and there definitely is pressure that goes along with that. I love that for Robb the pressure does not get to him, he stays the man he was before he became King of the North despite what it costs him. I love that he was honorable and married Jeyne even though the best thing for him to would have just been to leave her. It takes a lot of courage to make decisions like that, and he makes the tough decision (again correctly imo) when he beheads Karstark. My favorite Robb scene though is when he stands up to Catelyn before getting to the Freys, saying that he would have Jon inherit the North and Winterfell if he died. I just love that he does not care if Jon is a bastard or not, he is still his brother.

2.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
1. Theon- I just hate him, I think he is a despicable human being. I hate how he treats women, and I hated how he just turned on the Starks even though they had raised him practically as a son. Its not like he was exactly welcomed back to the Iron Islands either, there was no reason for him betray them except for his selfishness. I thought it was even more disgusting how he treated the people at Winterfell when he invaded, and I don't care if he didn't kill Bran and Rickon, he still killed two innocent children because he was too scared to admit they got away. Pretty much everything about him just makes me sick.

2. Tywin- I wanted to say Joffrey and I wanted to say Cersei, but I am one of those people who think a lot of who you are depends on the situation you are raised in, and that all comes back to Tywin. Maybe he was a better father when his wife was alive, but I doubt it. He basically saw his children as pawns in the game and it really just screwed them all up. He treated Tyrion horribly for something he had no control over and didn't even see him as really human. When Jaime lost his hand it was almost the same thing. One of the saddest moments for me is when Jaime has to lie to his own father about being able to fight as good with his left hand because he knows his father will cast him aside as useless if were to admit to the vulnerability he is feeling.

3. Lysa- Yes she was crazy, but I think she was also thought she was a horribly cruel. Her son was growing up a little monster, and she couldn't care at all. Finding out she was the one that poisoned Arryn just made her even more pathetic in my eyes.

'Honorable' mention- Robert

3.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
There have been a lot of epic moments that have really been amazing to read, but my favorite moment is the bear pit scene. Partially because it contains my two favorite characters, and just because its a wonderful moment. Jaime does something completely selfless and heroic here, and is also hilarious and bad ass at the same time. I love how it is written as something totally spontaneous that Jaime does, with Hoat saying "You want her? Go get her." and then it just says, and so he did. Plus it brings two of my favorite Jaime lines:
"Oh good, I only rescue maidens" and "I dreamed of you".

4. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
If it isn't obvious already I'm totally a Jaime/Brienne shipper, so if they could end up together, happy, some place away from the fighting and the rest of Westeros judging them it would be fantastic.

I would also love to see the Stark children reunited and Winterfell rebuilt.

I can never decide exactly what I want to happen with Dany, but I do want her to be happy.

At first I was thinking Tully because of your emphasis on family, but your best/worst traits were soo Martell. Plus family is hugely important to the Martells too.

I'm getting a serious Sansa-like Stark vibe. You also remind me of Bran with your interest in sports, which didn't quite play out as you might've wished. The shy dreamer type with tendencies toward stubbornness: very Stark.

My initial thought was Tyrell, for your view of friendship and sense of fun, but I ultimately found Stark more central to this app.
