All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.

Though I'm not in the right mood for daydreaming, I'll try to loosen up and see what I can get. First of all, as much as I'd love open, wide spaces and mountaineous views, I couldn't possibly make a living out there; plus, I'm a fan of wilderness, but only for a short time; though rural region-raised, I'm a city child. These being said, I'd love to have a small, but cosy flat somewhere in the center of my current city (it's a Romanian city, and you've probably never heard of it, but, well: have a view!), with a nearby park, in order to be able to open my windows to fresh air and green trees in the morning. After four years of being stuck in a basement, sun and the feeling of freedom is all I can ask for. Also, a nice neighbourhood would be appropriate: no loud teenagers and no pesky old people, willing to make my life harder than it already is.

Say, two rooms, a large bathroom with all the facilities, and a little kitchen to remind me of home. To describe the potential decorations would mean to go into too much a depth, so I'll just end by saying that it should be an affordable, modest, small but nice thing.

2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.

;; violence: it's not childhood trauma, though one could say I've sort of been through that; it's, perhaps, based on deep psychological and behavioral grounds, but I cannot stand physical violence, particularly when it comes of sexual assault (yes, ASOIAF was a hard bite for me in this respect);
;; birds: my biggest pet peeve; ever since childhood, I've been afraid of anything bird-related, be it feathers, claws, beaks and what not; my cousin showing me dead things in the backyard wasn't of too much a help, I fear; not was accidentally seeing Hitchcock's movie;
;; dogs: big scary ones, wandering without a leash and/or a master;
;; NEEDLES: enough said, blood tests are a calvary for me, and I usually end up by acting like a two-year-old, screaming, almost fainting and heavily hyperventilating; any talk of needles, syringes, injections or shots makes me cringe;
;; darkness: better said, what it might hide, see point one; the night is dark and full of terrors, right, Mel?
;; death: now that's a classic.

3. What is your favorite aspect of your physical appearance and why?

You said favourite?! Good joke, as my self-esteem in what concern physical appearence is below zero. Anyway, I'll try and say my eyes (yes, I know, not being original), because they're expressive and have those tiny lights ever glowing when I'm up to something; also, my fingers, particularly before the Raynaud Syndrome curled them in awkward ways; they're basically long and beautifully articulate.

4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would you change and why?

Basically, the portion between waist and knees. And why, because I was granted with the format I dislike the most, the so-called womanly, hourglass shape; I'm all for boyish-looking girls, hipless and not fleshy to the least, and I deeply loathe the fact that there is a pair of short legs to go with that. Totally mismatched, I'm telling you.

5. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!

The answer to this question has probably changes so many times so far, I couldn't even remember everything I wished for. I'll have to make a wise choice now, in order to show y'all that I'm responsible adult, right? JK, people. JK.

o1; health for my family, dear ones and self; I can't ask anyone to bring back people from the dead, because I don't believe in it; I can't ask for endless life (though I'd love it) or immortality or proof against all illness; but I can ask for everyone mentioned above to stay away from disease and pain;

o2; the ability to make people happy; all in all, I'm always clumsy when it comes to guess what people really need/expect from me, so it would be lovely to have such an ability, to know what's right and what's wrong when communicating;

o3. to leave something behind; to be remembered through my deeds, that is, be it that I'd write a bestseller, or become an active militant for animal rights, or bear three wonderful children to this Earth, whatever; just, you know, to have the feeling that I've helped the community, also imprinting my mark on it.

6. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)

Ha. I'm usually not proud (low self-esteem, remember), but suffer from a superiority complex at the same time; paradoxical, muchly?

o1. winning the prize for female interpretation at a national theatre festival, 9th grade;
o2. winning, along with my team, a national competition that shipped me to the States, 2006;
o3. translating my first book, German to Romanian, 2007;
o4. being granted with a 9/10 for my German Civilization final, 2005/2006;

7. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you?

I'll just range them from the most important to the least important, as I feel like my previous answers might easily lead you to understand my choice in this respect; also, as much as I'd love to detail, I've got a thesis asking to be written, so the need to elaborate needs to be pushed away.

Without further ado: family, friendship, love, knowledge, money, adventure, pleasure.

8. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values?

Fear in a name only increases fear in its self; Albus Dumbledore.

9. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you?

Always a paradox, it seems, and I'll tell you why. When I was a kid, I didn't have as much money as I'd liked to; my clothes were partially second-hand, there were times where sweets were a luxury, and we always had problems with paying stuff for our then house. Since my parents split up and switched jobs and positions, things have changed, but with a too high a price, in my opinion. Not to digress, say I've got a better situation right now, though money keep being a problem, a problem that makes me, for example, live where I live, eat what I eat and so on.

Money is important to the extent to which they allow you to live decently. It's not all about money, but it can't be without it either. Financial security is stringent, yes, but having large amounts of money and bathing in luxury it's not what I'd like to have. Honestly, I wouldn't know what to do with so much money, not after years of putting it aside piece by piece in order to buy myself, for instance, books.

10. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?

Oh dear. Thesis alert. But no, I'll keep writing until I finish. Yes.
;; reading: today I acknowledged, for the n-th time, the fact that being a bookworm ever since I learnt to read (I was 4) keeps helping me to achieve things in life on a daily basis; vocabulary, wit, and a general knowledge that couldn't have been granted by watching tv or listening to music, so to say; so yes, books were my first friends, and they'll always enjoy a special status in my life.
;; writing: well yes, I'm one of those aspiring writers, who keep scribbling since they were pre-adolescents (make that 10), and hope that, one day, they'll see their name on a lovely shiny cover.
;; drawing/painting: not as often, nowadays; graduating from an Art HS left a bitter taste in my mouth, though I still dabble in sketching and occasional larger projects.
;; the internet/blogging: I mean, el jay, here, ici, aca, hier, and so on; it's my nice, drama-free, friendly world that brings me a little corner of inner peace each day.
;; movies and shows: I'm addicted; I've seen tons of movies and episodes, and there are millions more to be watched, thought of, commented, discussed and deeply analyzed; I can't help myself, the evasion and escapism and the pretty are too much for me not to submit.
;; watching football: well yes, I'm a tomboy, and one of my dreams has always been to become a sports commentator; hello, thesis written about the sports discourse?

11. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical).

It's always coming back to this, right? Tee hee.
o1. best qualities:
;; I'd like to think I'm smart. Not intelligent, nor genial, nor remotely wise. Just smart, as in possessing a rich vocabulary and a vast general knowledge, in having some language skills, in easily communicating and relating with people, and in using irony and sarcasm as both praise and punish;
;; I have a rich imagination, which is at the same time a blessing and a curse. Sure, it brings along the creativity and the ability to find quick solutions, but it also allows darkness to creep inside my head and build the worst scenarios that leave me sick and weary.
;; I'm a people-person, though you wouldn't like to be around me in one of my depressed times; I basically can interact with anyone, would easily make buddies (stressing that they're not necessarily friends), party under almost any circumstances and tolerate many, perhaps too many, aspects.

o2. worst traits:
;; I'm selfish, but not in the classical way. More in a psychotic, OCD, HPD, manic-depressive way; it comes with being a drama-queen and having earn a special prize in bitching, with a capital b. I need attention, and affection, and no one is allowed to steal my show. Hence, I'm not a team player, and will never be.
;; I'm not stubborn, but pigheaded. I'll never take advice - at least not openly - or listen to a second opinion. I'm the one who needs to get burned before believing that fire is hot.
;; I'm moody, and it comes along with the aforementioned depression. It's something normal for me, but quite traumatical for persons who don't know me too well.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related

1.Which is your favorite book of the series so far? What about your least favorite?

My absolute favourite is A Storm of Swords, and my least favourite, A Feast For Crows (apart, you know, the Dorne bits).

2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series?

Limiting this to only three is no fair game, but I'll try my best to squeeze my preferences into the canon. Say, Asha Greyjoy (kickass warrior woman with affection issues, suddenly honest when everyone was expecting to be back-stabbed, and getting all the pretty? yes, please!); Oberyn Martell (yes, boring, I know, but hey, rolling on the floor at his remarks was a benefit for both my soul and skin); and, errr, can I have a tie please? 'course I can, so Sandor Clegane (my typical Byronic hero, all features in one pack) and Jaime Lannister (in AsOS, particularly).

3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series?

The Gruesome Threesome asides (Ramsay, Gregor, Vargo, surely), Cersei Lannister (disappointing, honestly, and that after being madly annoying, unfairly bitchy and glamorously vague); Jon Snow (I'm sorry, all you devoted admirers, but, the lord's kiss asides, I can't really see his utility, or perhaps I'm too much on a sick-of-Gary-Stus path?); Lisa Arryn (do I need reasons?)

4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far?

I love you, but no. Simply too difficult to decide, though the Red Wedding is still the numero uno masterpiece in the ways-to-move-your-audience-to-bloody-tears top ten.

5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end?

Bwhahaha, I really wouldn't like to crack this up, but, well, fine. You asked for it.
;; Sansa gets Winterfell, Sandor gets Sansa; call me sick, romantic or delusional, but this is the only pairing I've loved since the beginning, and I think there's so much potential in it it's not even funny!
;; Gendry gets The Seven Kingdoms, Arya gets Gendry; I keep playing this amazing scene in my head for months, and I'm not done with it. My favourite couple, all comic bookish, in their full glory, hand in hand as a renewed and upgraded Arwen and Aragorn. Hell yes;
;; Jon marries Val and runs in the Summer Islands; actually, without the marrying part, they just, you know, bond;
;; Jaime gets wooden hand (lighter than golden), Brienne gets Jaime, together they make lots of blue-eyed, sandy-blonde children and call them Tywion, Tyrin, Tersei and various other versions;
;; Asha gets the Iron Islands, Tristifer gets Asha, but she still has occasionally affairs with all the hot men in the neighbourhood, 'cause I have a sick mind and ah, well;
;; Arianne gets whatever she wants, as long as she shares with Lady Nim and Tyene; and yes, Darkstar is included.

For some reason, I had a strong Martell vibe from you. When I read your fears, I tried to change my mind... the Martells are definitely not ones to avoid violence or birds or pointy objects... but I just couldn't choose another House for you. So Martell it is!

Vote: Targaryen (sorry for the reposts)

This was difficult, your lack of taste for riches and your brooding side made me want to go with Stark, but they are pack people and you say you are not a team player. Targaryens have a need to dominate, they are natural leaders and have no intention to stay in the middle of the pack. You could get plenty of freedom riding around on dragons, and your love of art and knowledge reminds me of Rhaegar, who also brooded deeply and had a passionate, melancholy aspect. You also have a thirst for some fame, and Targaryens have a knack for leaving their mark on history. You shun needles fear, and dragons fear nothing. Your comment to [info]fireriven above indicates you have a deep sense of ethics like Dany. You can be the financially prudent Targ :)

I vote House Targaryen.

I too got a huge Martell vibe, mostly from the first part of your survey. Fears, not so much, but you know. Then you clarified that dreading violence isn't the same thing as avoiding it- and I really wanted to give you the Martell vote because of everything else I saw. Stark crossed my mind...But you don't seem to be as close knit with others as they are.

Hey, I'm sure everyone fears violence at some point, Martell it is.

Wow, you were tough, missy! You have a incredibly interesting personality. And have I mentioned before how cool it is that you are a woman writing a thesis on sports discourse? No, I not a big sports fan myself...but I cheer for women who are. Anyway...related to this that made decide to vote you as a Martell since that is the only house with a somewhat enlightened view on women, allowing them inherit the throne and all. They are also not team player (unbent, unbowed, unbroken) and you seem to enjoy the idea of some characters having more than one lover. You also like sun and freedom!

Well, it's another slightly different vibe from me. I actually see more Tully than Targaryen in you, but the Martell trumps all, so we'll give you that. It was your personality qualities (both positive and negative) and your third wish that sealed the deal - you want to leave a positive legacy on the community and world, and combined with your aversion to violence, you'd do it through the arts and/or sciences.

Besides, dragons have claws like birds. It totally wouldn't work out. :)

I'm feeling the Targaryen and Martell. It's hard to decide. I see that you like Martell, but the Targaryen seems stronger in some ways. The imagination, for instance. I also see Martells as being generally too restless to read and write. Still, though I do believe I see more Targaryen, you seem to want Martell, and I do think you'd do well there. For starters, anyone sorted there in this community is going to enjoy reading, so that's a weak excuse not to sort Martell ;)

So House Martell it is.

I'm very much feeling House Targaryen from you. In part because, no offense mind you, your comments about wide mood swings remind me of Viserys and, from what we know of him, Aerys. Your comments about being a people person, yet being moody and stubborn, as well as the financial situation, remind me of Dany. I could say the intellectual pursuits remind me of Rhaegar... they don't really, but the connection is there. I couldn't see you as a Martell; your comments about your body image lacked the "Fuck all, I'm sexy no matter what you say" vibe that they seem to exude.

It's not annoying. It's just not letting me edit my comment for some reason. Would you like me to delete and re-post?

P.S. (It's letting me edit this comment and not the one above-- why?!) This is the only one I screwed up on and I did try to fix it earlier. Apologies.

You can just leave it this time, I guess. Or if you feel like deleting a reposting, that's fine too. So not a big deal, just mild insomnia making me troll the community obsessively tonight.

My vote goes for House Tully. you seem to value family and people a lot and you want to take care of them, which reminds me of Catelyn. You don't like violence, you like gardens. Basically, you just scream 'Tully' to me.

I would say House Martell for you. Here's why: you want to leave a positive legacy on the community/ world without violence. That sole reason made your application scream House Martell to me.

I definitely get why you're receiving all the Martell votes, but I think when it comes down to it, you're far more of a Targaryen. I agree with the commenter who said that you're lacking a little bit of the Martell kind of carefree confidence, but you certainly make up for it with your Targaryen desire for greatness. You seem to have the strong emotions and sense of justice that I associate with that house. Fire & Blood all the way, baby.

You rang Targaryen, and then dissolved into Martell. You still have Targaryen qualities (your artistic habits, being volatile), but your dislike of violence (violence is no stranger to the Martells, but it's not savoured like with most Targaryens) and being a extrovert weighed heavily enough against a Targaryen vote for me to decide. And, while wanting to be remembered after you're gone strikes me as more of a Targaryen trait, your examples are more Martell.

Hrn... Vell, I will be jumping on the you = somewhat difficult to place wagon, which is a-okay; fun in its way, and all. At any rate, I've pretty much been drifting in the area of Tully-Stark-Martell... I don't think you're enough of a seclusion-type to go Stark, aaaand I don't think you've got the particular, ah, sting or grit of the Martells. On the other hand, points of intelligence to the Tully-land, and can definitely see them nurturing a good amount of the family-importance, and in the same fashion as you (or at least one similar, aye). Think you've got a streak of BAM that runs in the same vein as theirs--that is, not too abrasive, but effective--and they (unless their name happens to be Edmure, but you can't win all of 'em >.>) do seem to know how to use their words well. SO. For you, will be a-going for House Tully.

For further explanation... They're not exactly going scant on the luxury, but could see the Tully-sorts dealing well enough without much of it (whereas certain familiars, ohhhhh Lannisters, might not fly so well with that... not that Lannister was so much considered, anyway, but you get the idea >.>). You're not prone to that arrogant-boast-pride thing, which seems very well suited to them (the Blackfish may be a bit of an oddball with 'em, but he's still a Tully--even if he shows some of their traits in a slightly variant vein--and he displays this one muy well, methinks); bear a sense that you're pretty high up there, but you aren't going to rub an I'M BEST in people's faces (which is a point against the Martells, who seem more out there with their presumed or actual awesomeness). Stubbornness makes its way into their house, too... Actually, yes, in Catelyn, in Edmure, in the Blackfish himself... They seem to have that impulse to fight on and (again, save for Edmure) use tricksy-brains to find a way to work the situation.

Again, the Martell-lurve on your side made me look into that one several times over, but just not quite feeling it... Think you've got something a bit more... Urgh, am failing at the words. Not soft, but more able/willing to at least give a bit of consideration to logic; Martells seem a bit too willing to throw that over (unless we're speaking of Doran, I s'pose). But aye, seems that the Tullys'd give an environment better suited for extensive reading and the like (not that the Martells wouldn't, but doesn't strike me as being quite so high on their list). And, y'know, if you still feel all into the Martells, you could always run off with one whilst Mr. Lord Tully isn't looking. ;)

Aww...Targaryen:(

As I was reading your ap. my first thought was to squee, 'cuz I've found another person afraid of birds. it's not a good thing that your scared, but, I do feel less strange. anyway, you were giving Targaryen vibes. Your firm beliefs in what is wrong and right and your slight loner tendencies remind me of Dany. wow, just read that and it sounds strange, i'm not calling you a loner, it just seems like you work well on your own.
