Win or Die ... or, you know, something.

Name: Summer
How did you find out about the community? If it's through an LJ user, please tell us who it is: Oh, I don't know. I'm sure it couldn't be from anyone commenting on my journal with a 'would you hurry up and post so we can see whose house you'd be terrorizing'. Would it, [livejournal.com profile] cyshobbitlass?
Age: 24 (omg how did that happen???)
Location: Nowheresville, Midwestern USA, the world.
Occupation: Student. Waitress. Spoiled brat.

All About You

1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
A palace by the sea. A warm sea. Lots of beach. Because the beach totally suits my hair. And a cabana, filled with gorgeous cabana boys who know how to mix amazing, astounding, wonderful margaritas/martinis/daiquiris/etc. The palace itself will look suspiciously like Rivendell and Cair Paravel had a baby, with some flowing sheer draperies and a few spare ballrooms. There is a constant flow of people, all friends, all fun, all amazingly smart, witty, kind and awesome.

2. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
Isolation. I am all for alone time, and I can entertain myself very well but being cut off without any possibility of contact freaks me out like you wouldn't believe. I don't need people exactly, but I need the possibility of people.

Dependence. I can't depend utterly on someone. I find it very upsetting.

Pain. It's not that I have a low pain tolerance- I can muscle through pain just fine (thank you, 13 years of dance). I'm talking the really bad pain, the bend-over-and-throw up pain, the lay there and scream agony pain. The something's-broken-and-Vicodin-may-not-fix-it pain. I totally would have forgotten this if I hadn't just opened a surprisingly deep gash on my finger a week or so back. Nope, I am definitely not a fan of pain.

3. What is your favorite aspect of your physical appearance and why?
I love my eyes. They're this awesomely greenish-blue color. People always comment on them and I'm like yeah, they rock don't they? Just kidding. There are days where I love my hair but that's usually right after I've blown a lot of money on it. I do love being short except those moments when I can't find someone taller than me to get stuff off tall shelves.

4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would you change and why?
My hair today. Also I've got this 'blemish' right on my cheek today. I would change that in a heartbeat. ... oh you mean change permanent things. My abs. Oh my god, I would kill for awesome abs. You would never ever get me to wear a full shirt again. I would be running around going 'hey have you seen my abs? yes! yes you have! and they're amaaaaazing!' Losing about 10 lbs would be good too. As long as I didn't have to give up chocolate.

5. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
1. Awesome abs!
2. A palace by the sea tax-free and mine to keep and have and love and be filled with my friends.
3. Money to maintain said abs and palace (as well as a killer wardrobe). Also tax-free and to be invested at a profitabe interest rate.

... you know, it occurs to me I could ask for world peace, but the genie would probably be one of those with a sense of humor and he'd wipe out mankind. Anyway, stuff that big should probably be something we do for ourselves otherwise we won't learn.

6. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
Um. I don't accomplish much. I just seem to have amazing unbelievable luck. Except when it comes to self-injury and not wrecking my car. Okay, I kid. Sort of.
I am proud of myself that I could arrange a trip from the us to central europe and fly by myself and not screw up. Both ways! Omg! I rock! I am proud of how I can ditch negative people even when they're boyfriends (okay so there was a really long recuperation period afterward but hey, I did it.)
Seriously, though, I'm one of those awful people who have basically all their needs met, no major catastrophe looming (aside from graduation), and are generally content with life as it stands. So maybe I'm proud with coming to peace with myself and stuff around me (mostly, except the abs).

7. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you?
Oh that's rough. For me my friends tend to be family and love is all tied up in that. I can't stand not knowing stuff (unless it's math stuff and then that's fine I don't need it). I find pleasure in adventure and adventure is pleasure. But it's all so difficult without money.

Friendship/Family/Love. Pleasure. Money. In that order.

8. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? ... you have no idea how badly I want to quote Natural's Not In It here. Or Glamorous. Or possibly Hello, Mr Zebra.

"So we take up the initiative
And stroll over to Mr. Muscles in that predatory waltz
Saying “hey there, lets see what you've got boy
”And don't mind our amusement or preliminary insults”
- Edge of My Seat by Thea Gilmore

"Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company."
-- Mark Twain

"Life's a banquet and most poor sons of b*tches are starving to death." - Auntie Maim

"Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea;
And love is a thing that can never go wrong;
And I am Marie of Romania." - Dorothy Parker

... I couldn't pick just one!!

9. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you?
Um, I have a financial advisor and people who do that for me longterm? Financial security is actually very important to me, but I'm a shiftless college student still so I'm sort of mess on that score. On the other hand, I'm never broke because I won't let that happen. "Money cannot buy health, but I'd settle for a diamond-studded wheelchair" as Dorothy Parker said.

10. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
Hang out with my friends. Go to parties. Go to clubs. Go shopping. Go on trips. Read. Write. Communicate in general. Watch movies. Laugh.
Oh, elaboration?
- I love my friends. They make me laugh. We go out and meet up for dinner, and generally we grab some booze cause we're fierce boozehounds like that. We have hella adventures and look cute during them. And I do mean all my friends- whether it's in a foreign country or the local restaurant, there's always an adventure.
-Shopping. I love that new stuff feeling. I love new clothes and new shoes. omg. I'm shallow. I don't care. If shallowness makes me happy, then I embrace it. There's always time for depth later, like, when there aren't any sales to be found. Right?
- I love to write, and read. It's an escape for when I can't actually be out having my own adventures. Writing lets me tell my own stories and create new ones and live out ones that I couldn't (cause you know, no one has made real vampires and elves yet). I enjoy reading stories by other people too- lets me get away without having the bother of writing it myself.
- Laughing. The best medicine, the best revenge, the best times. All involve laughing.

11. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical).
My best qualities?
-I'm "sweet and bubbly." Or that's what people always tell me anyway.
-I'm creative. Well, that might be 'crazy' but I am good at coming up with unexpected stuff, and hey, my art projects didn't usually suck concept-wise.
-I am intelligent. Despite all evidence to the contrary. My brains keep me out of more trouble than I care to admit. Plus? People do listen when I talk. I don't get it either.

My worst qualities?
-I'm mercurial. Up one moment, down the next. Pissed off, calm, happy, whatever. It can be a bit unsettling for those around me.
- I'm easily distracted. I will forget about something the minute something more sparkly comes along. TV shows, fandoms, books, dates... it's so trying. le sigh. ... Wait does that fit more with the mercurial? Well, just in case I'll give you a bonus: I can be manipulative. Purely in a self-preservation sort of way, I don't go around brainwashing people into jumping off buildings; I just tend to campaign to get my own way and can do it subtly when need be.
- I'm a rampant procrastinator. I will never do something early. Ever. I can't. It's just not in me.

A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.Which is your favorite book of the series so far? What about your least favorite?
Probably a Storm of Swords because it ripped my heart out and I respect things that can do that to me since I'm sort of heartless and jaded (finally a book series that makes me look naive!). Least fave has to be... I don't know actually. A Clash of Kings maybe? Parts of it? How about we just agree I love all the books but don't actually care about the whole Brienne plotline? There we go. Better.
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Only three? Lalala can't count.
- Arianne Martell. What can I say? I can identify. Plus she's generally awesome in my book. Oh, and I'm putting her cousin Tyene as a tie here too. Because I envy Tyene's needlepoints...
- Sansa. She's girly, she's bitchy, she's sweet, she's imaginative, she's smart, she's got serious issues. What's not to love?
- Dany. Ditto, plus serious ass-kicking war skillz.
- Littlefinger. Look, I know he's totally a founding member of the gospel according to St Bastard but... you gotta admire the dedication.

3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series?
Um surprisingly Brienne isn't my least fave even though she bores me.
- Jorah Mormont. Couldn't he at least be awesomely creepy like Littlefinger?
- Loras Tyrell. Omfg shut up Ser Emo McEmoBritches. I don't care. I just really, really don't care. I'm with Cersei, would you please hurry and get Phantom of the Opera-ed so you can at least have a good reason for emo-ing it up?
- Joffrey. Die. Again. Slowly. Now, once more, WITH FEELING!
- Wildlings. Omfg srsly? We want south of the wall but we won't obey your laws! Wtf, are you speshul snowflakes? stfu and go get zombified.

4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far?
Possibly when Dany pwned the city by looking all wide-eyed and girly and then attacked them. She rocks so hard. ... Okay and the Moon Door sequence. That was mindblowing. Oh, and meeting Oberyn Martell. How did he pack that much cool into such a few scenes? Someday I want to write a character so cool he gets fangirls with one line. Or less.

5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end?
Dany, Sansa, Arianne and maybe Margaery if she gets more cool points later form a girl-power council and kick the hell out of everyone, especially the Freys, and lots of zombie butts get flambeed. Quentyn can join in if he's as cool as his sister. Jaime, Brienne and the reinstated Barristan turn the KG into a super-elite force that would make Rangers, SEALs, and the SAS weep for mercy. Jon shags Melisandre and kills her. Walder Frey is eaten by his nephews who are then eaten by Lady Stoneheart. Lady Stoneheart kills Littlefinger with a kiss. Qyburn is eaten by a tree. No one asks any questions.
... and somewhere in there is an allusion of Lady Stoneheart/Gregor as the only OTP.

Oh, and of course, Myrcella and Trystane live happily ever after in Dorne. Loras sings Think of Me. Podrick Payne becomes the Master of Whispers. Sansa and Sandor embark on a life-long affair. Tyrion finds love with a cute Braavosi courtesan and he and Varys settle down to being weird unbestfriends forever and ever and ever. The Nights Watch is manned by a force of Dolorous Edd clones- the Others flee before their eeyore-like powers.

Targaryen... fuck, I THINK that's right...

[identity profile] scytheandroses.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Tyrell, to the yessssss ma'am. You've got the glitz and excitement thing that does, I believe, fit them best. They've got the comfort, they enjoy the comfort, and damned if they're going to leave that... Think you might get on in that sort of environment, yep. So, yes, a lot of sparrrrkle-sparkle, if you will, but not without thatintelligence waiting there, being all sneaky-like. Actually tend to get much of the same vibe from Margaery (whose name I've misspelled but, ah, fuck cares? TARGARYENS CARE NOT FOR OTHER NAMES; this one apparently doesn't, anyway).

They're generally very friendly sorts... Hell, of the houses, I think would see the Tyrells as the most likely to surround themselves with friends, having god knows how many laughs with 'em along the way. Enjoying life likewhoa, just sort of going out, hanging around... And yeah, could very much see the Tyrells in a different environment (read: one more heyyyy shiny-economy of this time based) being into the shopping thing. Also, "mercurial" is, I'd say, one of those very-apt words to describe at least one branch of the Tyrells.

"Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company." <-- Yeah, so that definitely sounds like some quipthe Queen o' Thorns'd be giving. And kind of suits much of the Tyrell fashion, anyway... keeping things all shiny-snazzy on the outside, but you fuckin' know there's some hellacious shit goin' down with the members of the house (take the Thornish one, again, and that whole poisoning affair... y'know; again, part of the Tyrell thing with you, because seems like there's a lot of the all right, that's pleasant and maybe even almost more innocent-like on the outside, but reach in and fuckin' OW... yeah, the, ah, rose thing... yep).

ANYWHO. Tha'd be my vote, and if'n youshould like further explanation, can give it later on. Yep. Also? Wildlings = "speshul snowflakes"? XD WIN.

Martell- We can kill you with snakes. Or scorpions.

Martell. I believe I saw you as Arianne on [livejournal.com profile] asoiaf_stamp & the Arianne vibes have not diminished at all. In fact, I felt them throughout the entire application. Your dream home sounds like a combination of Sunspear & the Water Gardens. The fact that you are very close to your friends and want to have people nearby strikes me as very Arianne-esque. She's a very social person. Witness her reaction to being shut up in the Spear Tower. And she certainly didn't like being separated from her cousins.

I felt some Lannister vibes early on (your wishes, for example), but overall I have to go with Martell. Your ideal house, of course, your ranking of things in importance, and just the overall vibe feels more Martell than anything else, because there is a sense of humour about yourself and absolutely everything that feels Martell-like to me.

Well, seeing the other votes so far has made me doubt -- you definitely do have Tyrell and Martell traits. But I'll stick with what I was thinking all along, which is Lannister. You're a funny one; you could totally be related to Tyrion and Jaime. I disagree with [livejournal.com profile] scytheandroses above -- the Mark Twain quote is totally something Tyrion would say. ;) You openly admit your love of money and shiny new things. (The diamond-studded wheelchair quote is hilarious.) Manipulative and intelligent...

Stark

[identity profile] laviedamour.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
I would have to totally agree with [livejournal.com profile] haremstress. From the start I was thinking Lannister. Your wit and love for money had me sold.

Targaryen - what'ya mean, mad?

[identity profile] guad.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Martell. Your choice of location but not only that. A very positive view on life, plus pleasure and adventure, love for family and your sense of humour.

Oh well, I just got that very strong Sun and Spear vibe from you. :D

Lannister

[identity profile] deeplyunhip.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm torn between Martell and Tyrell. You've got the sociability and charms I associate with the Tyrells but you've also got a Martell sort of passion going on underneath them all. I'm going to go with Tyrell in the end, the main decision-making factor here being your qualities, which seem to lean more toward that way with the mention of being manipulative, creative, and "sweet and bubbly". Those qualities are all highly reminiscent of the Roses, for me. :)

Greyjoy

[identity profile] desire-of-nymph.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to have to say that I'm seeing you more in House Tyrell than any of the others. Your charms and love of friends/comfort is what made me think of them, and the rest of the application sealed the deal. I could see a bit of Martell, and maybe even Lannister, but I think you've got more of a "Growing Strong" vein than any of those others.

Tyrell

[identity profile] cyshobbitlass.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, thanks for indulging my whims and applying!

I really can't see you anywhere else but in my own house. Tyrell it has to be. The love of beauty, the intelligence and wit, the slight manipulation, the hate of isolation but also of dependence really sounds Tyrell-esque to me, as well.

I'm happy to have you here!

[identity profile] cloud-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You're a Martell, IMO, though I could sense some Lannister vibes. Like others have said, you have an adventurous and passionate view on life and a Martell sort of humour. Your "mercurial" quality and other things also remind me a bit of Arianne. Plus, you seem to like the kick-ass girls, no? :D

Tyrell, with hints of Lannister, but overall definitely Tyrell. I see a good amount of hedonism here but not in a crazy Lets Orgy While Rome Burns kind of way. Just that you like to keep the fun flowing at all times in good and worthy company. Shopping, creativity, pleasure, sparkle and glam and other sort of aesthetic requirements from life, wit and humor; from the application you seem like a bonne vivante and that fits the Tyrells perfectly. They're also a close family with a lot of love in their bonds it seems, and the high style is all about enjoyment and not as much about ostentation, which is what tips you away from Lannister (or Martell, whose style is a little bit different than what I get the feeling for in this app) despite the fierceness in your girl power vibe.

Tully

[identity profile] ender839.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it was a pretty close race between Lannister and Martell, but there is a clear winner.

The location started it, what with a palace by the sea; the Twain quote, the immediate joys and passions of life, and the escapism of writing pushed you to House Martell for me. :)

Targaryen

[identity profile] ol-whatsername.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna have to go with Martell, it just felt right from the beginning and there wasn't anything that made me even think about changing my mind.

Re: Martell- We can kill you with snakes. Or scorpions.

[identity profile] jesatria.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I want to go to the Water Gardens. Someone should make a hotel with that idea in mind... it sounds so gorgeous.

I second this idea!

Tyrell for you, I think. For much the same reasons as [livejournal.com profile] misstopia, actually. You strike me as the kind of person who would use wealth to increase pleasure, not just to display your wealth. Lannister was a relatively close second, but Tyrell wins the day.

Have you, perchance, seen the Lion in Winter? Because Katherine Hepburn as the Queen of Thorns Eleanor of Aquitaine is simply one of the most awesome things ever.

[identity profile] thedls-sword.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
To me you have a lot of both Lannister Lioness and Martell Spear in you. It's very even. Now the quote that finally made me decide was "I'm mercurial. Up one moment, down the next. Pissed off, calm, happy, whatever. It can be a bit unsettling for those around me." Lannister's seem to have a very even temper, like Tywin, while the Martells...

So yeah you're a Martell no doaubt.

[identity profile] ladynyks.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Being that I'm still reading up on the series, my opinion may change after finishing ALL four of the books... but for now I lean on the Tyrell side of the equation. There seemed to be that lightness in the first half of what you wrote, and only later came the stings of wit mixed into it. Even with your dislike of dependence jarring a little with what there is at first, mostly the "hearts and flowers, ooh, shiny" ("sparkly sparkly" as mentioned earlier) impression, until suddenly the Izzard pops up. Well, okay, when the Parker pops up earlier, I guess, but the Izzard shouts out more. ;) I can see what others have called the Martell (and Lannister) sense of humour and the certain aptness of it though, even if I for some strange reason first thought of Renly in relation to it.

Have fun with the icon in any case.

House Tyrell

I was a bit undecided, but your sense of humour and choice of words remind me of the Queen of Thorns, plus love of comfort and wishing to be surrounded by many friends reminds me of Tyrell most of all.

[identity profile] smlp.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
Lannister was my impression from the start. Your dream house with pretty guys serving you cocktails made me think of Cersei.

[identity profile] scytheandroses.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, most of us can't be fussed to spell our own names. we just kind of make up spellings as we go along. And usually it's just sort of "that one guy, with the blond hair... and the... scar... who's sleeping with his sister." Something like that. Fuck spelling. Who spells?

Theeeeeeeeen you know what? you SHOULD be the Queen fo Thorns. The future Queen of Thorns. Yep. THE CAMPAIGN BEGINS NOW.

The Others appreciate their chow, and certainly find it speshul. YUM YUM.

MARTELL, please!

Hi girl.
Sooo. Ah well, I'm totally biased here, as I already know a thing or two about you, and I can rely my affirmation on more than just this particular application form.
- anyway, to keep it short, you're somewhere at the meeting/melting point of Targs, Martells and Lannisters. Nothing about you makes me think of the ... stark Starks, or of the ... ironborn Ironborn, y'know. You're soft, and stylish, and classy, and you like the idea of a life of spoil and lush.

Buuuttt. There's more about you than meets the eye; even behind the shallowness you mockingly pretend to exhibit, I know there's a heart ready to open for friends, whenever they need it to. Hence, I'm voting MARTELL for you, bb, 'cause I need you on my/our side, LOL.

[identity profile] flamedrop.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, Definitely Martell. You just seem to have this zest and passion for life that can only match with Martells.

Now that you're a Martell you should crash their party for kicks *snerk*
