There just are not enough kick-ass girls in the literary world, dammit. And so help me if anyone cites Alanna of Trebond I'll whomp them. Gack. I hated that main character. Her daughter however was very fun.
Part of my love of ASoIaF is that there are girls who are actual girls. They aren't just always sweet or cardboard cut-outs (or blow-up dolls for that matter), they can be nice and bitchy and awesome and horrible all at once. The fact that they're written by a guy just makes me lol- I have to imagine Parris going in and telling him sometimes to fix it when the chars act like the idea of girls more than actual girls. And Dany acting like a hormone-riddled 13-year-old... ahahahaha. So. True. No one finds appropriate love interests when they're a 13-year-old girl.
